Just a question for the people of Bluelight, but I was wondering how people here apply psychedelics (or other hallucinogens) outside of their more usual, spiritual/meditative contexts. I've found that applying them to programming, making music, and reading to be quite nice, with some of the more simulating ones like LSD and DOM being just as applicable as amphetamine to get things done around the house.

What do you guys use hallucinogens for outside of the more "conventional" applications?

Sports
  • Running: Not so much lately, but I've had a few long trippy runs in the mountains that were really special, and doing this granted me an insight into my running form that made a big difference.
  • Surfing: Small dose on a glassy and small day gave an amazing perspective on the water and how waves interact with reef to form surfable waves
  • Cycling: I learned how to do good track stands on a trip and it stuck with me for life
I'm not a skater but I bet a lot of people have mastered various skate tricks using psychedelics. I'd love to hear any stories about that kind of thing. I also imagine it would be useful for learning to slack-line or tightrope. I've heard of climbers using acid and stuff, but that sounds like it's getting dangerous.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who finds psychedelics and exercising to be highly synergistic! So many people trip and just sit around inside, when it feels like the best time to be out in the world doing things, for me at least.

Skateboarding while tripping is interesting, LSD and psilocybin containing mushrooms in low to moderate doses definitely accelerate whatever I'm learning and induce a huge boost in creativity and aesthetic appreciation of my environment, whereas 2C-B just accelerates whatever I'm learning without a huge creativity boost. DOM over 10-15mg gets my heart rate too high to exercise much, either.

I was warming up after the winter recently and found that every trick I could do with a single flip, I could now do with a double flip because it finally clicked for me. Some 'platinum teacher' mushrooms elucidated how the balance of the front foot flicking, the back foot popping both down and pulling back, and my need to stay in the air longer for extra time for the board to rotate could allow me to do this, it was pretty neat.

Oddly enough, harmaline is probably the best athletic enhancer I've ever used, but it dangerously interacts with most peoples' prescription medications so I rarely recommend it. A small bump would keep me more present than anything else though for 4-6 hours.

I used to work with all kind of events.. Organizing and setting up light, sound etc.

I had a lot of great days on 100ug LSD, but i wouldn't use any more than that.

Man @blazR you remind me of a time setting up a janky sound system for a desert party. It was a frankenstein type amalgamation of 3 different systems from different crews, a pile of mismatched amps and speakers, crossovers, eqs, limiters. I was mildly tripping and my conspirator seemed to be tripping more heavily and was less experienced with PA.

It was a hilarious hell of tangled connections and miscommunications, crawling around behind speakers, and trying to get everything hooked up right and sounding decent. We got ourselves so utterly confused and discombobulated, at one point we had to unplug everything and start from scratch. It took us like 5h to get it all set up. But in the end we sorted it out and it did sound great despite the weird hodgepodge of gear.

Part way through our party a producer who we both absolutely idolize randomly showed up (with a teapot on his head) and politely asked if he could give the EQ a tweak and play a set. Needless to say we shuffled the schedule around and rolled out the red carpet and he played a wicked little set for maybe 20-40 of us and then rode off into the night..

Anyways, I don't think the acid helped us in our setup but maybe it did somehow in the end.
