against all illicit drugs!!!
Ok, ive just quit smoking, 1 day so far...., and have stopped going to the gym and stopped eating protien shakes, huge carb loads etc. Im looking for a way to detox my system. How do you guys do it? Ive heard of enemas, people drinking nothing but warm water for 2 days. etc. etc.

How should i go about a total body detox

Just start eating & living healthy. Do not do anything special to start it off.

Well.... physically: Initially, you will need to start detoxing the liver, as the liver is the primary \ filtering system of your body... so go to your health food store to get something for that! (milk thistle for example) =)

Drink loads and loads of water to help flush your body of the toxins, but keep your electrolytic intake up with lemonade as this will keep you hydrated.

The sauna is also good for this to help sweat the toxins out as is anything that induce sweating

Sleep wise: apart from the night sweats, i had light/shitty sleeps for about 4 weeks with some nasty dreams....if i took a sleeping pill, i sometimes woke up with a nasty scratch on my face or arm, so sleeptime can be disturbing and restless.... so be prepared for that (about 3 - 4 weeks worth)
Melatonin is good for that too as it restores your sleep - wake cycle and also helps reduce some of these symptoms.

Now your mind body and spirit go through this detox so its not only the physical side you have to cope with - for example your mind will be dealing with wanting to score which sometimes can be a battle. With that i would seek some support structure (theres some on the net even have a look at the DarkSide threads)
Along with that you have to ask yourself the question 'how im gonna fill my time without smoking?' because all of a sudden you have all this energy and time on your hands so make sure you have some things planned - and best to get out of the house - like the movies or gardening or something - a new hobby maybe??

If you're into the spiritual side of things, you can go to see a kinesiologist to balance your chakras and help deal with the mental and emotional and the physical side that comes with detox :) kinesiologists balance your mind body and spirit
Or see a reflexologist who while massage your feet and move toxins out of your system quicker =)

Peer pressure - learning to say no!! Staying away from friends that might tempt you....

It a hard journey but you can do it! Dont be too hard on yourself if you slip up!

Happy Detox doll and good luck =)

thanks but im looking for something more radical...

enemas? not eating or drinking anything but warm water? what you think

A healthy lifestyle is radical. Do not just eat well and exercise, drink well. Drink plenty of tea & tisanes. If you drink a lot of tea though, drink decaffeinated tea.

Pumping yourself with a shitload of sugar will not help. Allegedly lemon is good for your liver though, although a quick Google search does not point to any actual studies. You could try lemon juice and stevia dissolved in water.

Ever heard of the lemonade fast? Google it... Fresh lime or lemon juice with maple syrup and hot water 6-12 times a day... basically a miracle cleanse...

What the fuck is "Detoxification"? Can anyone name what toxins are being removed? Y'know, like an actual chemical you've read is stored up that your miracle fast will fix?

I've done the lemon cleanse before; if fact, I'm starting it tomorrow. I have decided to stop drinking for some time, and will start to cleanse my body with a 2+ week long fast.

When I've done the fast in the past, you notice the effects fairly quickly: tongue is coated with nasty shit you are expelling from your body, your skin and breathe smell nasty, etc... The hunger goes away after 2 or 3 days, and you feel like you have more energy.

If you don't believe that this works, try not eating the next time you are sick. If you don't eat, your body has that much more energy to fight off sickness instead of digesting food. Why do people get sick more often in the winter/around holiday time: you are eating a bunch of shitty foods.

Anyway, good luck, and wish me luck.

i'm with MM on this...I think its a lot of thin-air basically...the power of believing something...

Eat healthy (good amounts of protein and fiber), lots of water, minerals/vitamins, sleep well, meditate each morning upon rising, focus on good/positive thoughts, set goals for yourself to change parts of your physical and psychological self.

I wanna note that I've *done* the miracle cleanse for about 9 days and really enjoyed shifting my mentality away from my love for (and addiction to) food as a drug. It changed my consciousness. As for why there's crap coating your tongue when you do it for the first three days, none of us can say. Is it "toxins" being expelled? dunno. What I DO know is, tripping on mushrooms at the end of a 9 day fast is fucking siiiiiiiiick! <--- had to throw just a lil' juvenility into this!

Anyway, try fasting. It'll mentally clean you out, if not physically. It's a cool exercise.

this crap on your tongue and bad breath is a result of shifting into ketosis and the byproducts of the higher rate of metabolization of bodyfat.

ugh...

The body detoxes itself. Once you stop putting toxins in to it it has its own cleansing mechanisms to get rid of the stuff you don't want. You don't need to do anything radical or extreme. Just eat healthy, get plenty of rest and regular physical exercise, that's all you need!

Why are so many people jumping on the detox band wagon??? The body isn't meant to run on a nutrient restricted diet, if anything you risk doing more harm than good.

^ration-restricted rats have shown in numerous experiments to have significantly longer lifespans when compared against ad libitum groups.

to those really wanting to know first hand what detoxification means and what actual toxins are, may i suggest a simple professionally supervised 2 week juice/water fast. then pls check back in with your findings, i am certain you will have many amazing discoveries to share.

When studying nutrition you can't extrapolate animal models to humans, conclusions derived through extrapolation aren't considered valid conclusions in that field.

Uggh, detox is a crock in my opinion. Eat well, exercise, unsaturated fat, avoid salt, protein and carbs in the right amounts and avoid milk from China! My 2c. Ps why bother to detox if you're going to get back into steroids etc?
