I have been on phenibut 24/7 for 9 days. I've been taking up to 8g a day. My tolerance seems to have skyrocketed. If I stop cold turkey will I be in for a serious withdrawal? I'm optimistic about using kava to counteract w/d symptoms, anyone any experience with that? I'm also gonna go to the doctor today and try to get a prescription for some benzos. I'll tell them I'm having trouble sleeping with exams coming up or something like that. I need to get off this stuff yesterday.

I think you could expect some mild to moderate WD's if you do a cold turkey method. I think using another substance (possibly kava or pod tea) would help relieve some symptoms you may experience. That is what I would suggest.

I was being a pussy and didn't want to face the comedown. Its the weekend now so I'm gonna just deal with it.

a psychotic break is possible due to the dopamine rebound. seizures maybe?

if i were you i'd get off of it with the help of a long acting benzo like clonazepam.

i don't understand how anyone can get addicted to it, i take 3 mg every 3 days after a workout to boost HGH, it's basically a not-so-recreational alternative to GHB when it comes to its anabolic effects.

8gs a day? Jesus.. I was on it daily for over a year but never went higher than 3 - 4gs and that was only very rarely.. it was normally between 1.5 and 3..

I suggest taking 1g and seeing how you are.. You havn't been on it long it shouldn't be too much of a problem but because of your unusually high doses it might be quite harsh to just stop taking..

Take 1g.. you'll probably feel quite anxious, have no appetite, be extremely bored / have mild depression and probably experience some insomnia..

Withdrawals probably wont last long just don't give up giving up..

try to ween yourself off it. cold turkey will certainly be uncomfortable at best. can you get your hands on any other gabaergic drugs, such as gaba, lyric, benzos, etc? Those will make cold turkey super easy and safe. alcohol could also help in your w/d, although I don't really encourage it as it lowers your seizure threshold...

I started to feel semi normal after 5 - 6 days.. It took about 14 for me to return to what i think was baseline.. But I was taking it every day for about 18 months..

Kavalactones are GABAergic drugs. Its been around 24 hours since my last dose and I feel fine so far. I felt bad when I woke up but I've been drinking kava and now I feel pretty good.

Things got extreme so I took 2g a couple of hours ago and now I feel great. I feel way better than I did when I was on the higher doses. In fact, the higher doses made me feel bad in various ways so I was probably taking way too much. I think I have a good taper plan now, I'll just take a gradually smaller dose every 24 hours.

yeah 8 Gs is a large dose..theres a guy on Mind and Muscle that took 13 grams daily for 6-7 months, recently quit, took benzos as needed for 4-5 days and trazadone to sleep and is feeling fine after a week..

Rickasnice-u finally off the phenibut??feel normal now?

icono-u will probably have mild withdrawals after taking that much..better off to quit while you are ahead...what effects do you get from the phenibut??does the good outweigh the bad?

A mixed bag of effects. It always gives me headaches and makes me feel bad in general but sometimes theres large amounts of this warm, happy euphoria that comes with it. Sometimes the euphoria is replaced with anxiety. GABA B agonists affect me in very strange ways. The bad outweighs the good for me. Same goes for GHB, these drugs just don't agree with me.

Any update? I would think a short taper would be the best bet just to be safe. Since you did not take it very long, it could probably be a pretty quick and rapid taper. Also, I would imagine some non-gaba sleep meds (OTC or perscription) and some supplements (Valerian, Kava, L-Theanine) would help.

- Aw geez, just realized this is a really old thread. My apologies.
