Hi everyone. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with adult ASD. The main symptom I experience is social anxiety (and have done all my life). My doctor has given me Sertraline (Zoloft) but after using it for 6 months, I find it does NOTHING at all for me.

In fact, I've only ever experienced two things that stone cold eliminate my social anxiety by making me feel both euphoric and more social:

1) MDMA (which I've used in numerous party settings over the years - haven’t used in over three years)
2) Morphine (which has been administered after two recent surgeries)

Having used these substances, I'm aware of how limiting social anxiety is to my life. I'm literally functioning as two different people - the one I am when under the influence, and the one I am 99% of the time as "myself". I really want to be the first person there since I feel so much more powerful and confident. That said, I'm aware that neither of these substances can be long term solutions (are there any?)

I was just wondering if you could tell me what, in your experience, has similar effects to those substances I've mentioned above, and why those substances make me feel that way i.e. what are they doing to my system that Sertraline (Zoloft) doesn't? Do you think it might be something to do with levels of oxytocin? If so, would oxytocin nasal spray help?

Thanks

Morphine and MDMA are recreational. They make us feel good. That's why they are great for depression and anxiety. Many people take opioids just for that reason. They have no physical pain but it alleviates their mental pain.

SSRI's like zoloft and others have no " feel good " about them. If they work at all ( and most say they don't ) they work in the background silently and we don't feel them at all. There is a lot of people that say the same thing as you in that they just don't seem to get much help from SSRI's.

Problem is is that opioids are hard to get. They work like a charm but they also are controlled. So we have to deal with meds that are sub par for our needs. Nothing we can get scripted is anywhere near the opioid relief. Kratom is about as close as you can get and that's a pretty mild substitute but better than nothing at all.

I have no experience with oxytocin spray or if it does anything at all. We generate it when we kiss puppies and babies but aside from that I know nothing about it.

Welcome to Bluelight.
