Hey everyone! Longtime lurker, but I hadn't made an account until I joined the Discord server earlier this summer. I'm currently on the moderation and support teams over there and thought it was high time I make an actual forum account and introduce myself. I've got the quick facts below, but to add to that list - I'm a long time dabbler in drugs and a recent heavy opiate user. I also mod r/fentanyl over on Reddit, if you ever find yourself over there. I'm passionate about harm reduction, mutual aid, and public health, and I'm so glad to have found the Bluelight corner of the internet!

I love old-school country and folk, and outlaw country in particular - big fan of Loretta Lynn, Waylon and Willie, Johnny Cash, etc. But there are some fantastic new artists who are bringing the spirit of old country back - Charley Crockett, Nick Shoulders, Sturgill Simpson, and Sierra Ferrell come to mind! I'm lucky enough to live in an area with lots of amazing live bluegrass and folk, so I get to see lots of bands live when they come through town!

You said that we can ask you about boofing. Im Spanish so sorry for my english. Boofing Its the same as plugging as far as I know. I have a question.
Is plugging methadone worth it? Or better just take it orally due to the high bioavalivity?

Yes, boofing is the same as plugging - you're absolutely correct.

Full disclosure, I personally haven't been on methadone (I have only ever been on buprenorphine - so suboxone or subutex), but to my knowledge, as you said, methadone has a very high oral bioavailability. There's two main reasons to boof something - one is to bypass the first-pass metabolism of the drug, and thus increase the bioavailability, and the other is to shorten the time to onset (so, basically get more of a rush).

Because methadone is already so bioavailable orally, you'd probably just be getting a littleeeee tiny bit more of out of your methadone by plugging it than by taking it orally. But the other potential problem I see is that, as far as I'm aware, the standard daily dosage for methadone is wayyyy more than I'd recommend plugging ever! I usually plug no more than 3 mL, and as far I as understand the standard daily dosage is around 50 mg of methadone, and methadone normally comes in 5mg/mL or 10 mg/mL solutions...so you're already past the amount of liquid I would personally recommend plugging.

Overall, I'd say that it's probably safer to avoid plugging methadone, and just take it orally - but I'm not expert on methadone, so maybe someone here knows more than I do! I've certainly boofed subs before, but those are easily dissolved in just a few mL of sterile water :)

As an aside, here's an interesting article about the rectal bioavailability of methadone that I found while looking into this!

Well, pregnant and parenting people who use drugs deserve compassionate and excellent care, just like everyone else! I actually see a lot of overlap between harm reduction and doula work - you are giving people unbiased and accessible information so that they can make informed decisions about their own bodies. That's the central philosophy that I carry through all of the work that I do!

In my town they give liquid methadone but just with water so I can evaporate it with heat and get 120mg in 2/3ml. Tomorrow I will try it. But my tolerance is very high. I dont know if Ill feel any kind of rush. Sometimes I IV 120mg and get a decent rush but it fuck your veins. It burns and make your veins dissapear, or make it very hard, like a guitar string. I dont recommend anybody to slam methadone. I dont know if they add something to avoid IV because there is a pharma grade methadone for injection.

Please be careful and take good care of yourself. You're right that there is pharmaceutical injectable methadone, but I don't know what your take-home methadone gets in terms of fillers. If you're used to IVing such high doses, I don't know that you'll feel much when you plug - I'm sorry!
