Heroin intake question

Hi guys, I have a question...doing some research.

I understand that Heroin is taken:

1) In a vein
2) Snorting
3) Smoked
4) IM

I also understand that Oxycodone is Heroin. So, why don't users of Heroin take it like Oxycodone i.e. EAT/INGEST Heroin?
Or, is the effect of ingesting Heroin NOT the same as Oxycodone?

Thanks guys

It isn't, and that is why it is rarely if at all taken this way. Both heroin and morphine are commercially available in oral preparations but they are rarely abused this way due to poor absorption from the gut. Oxycodone performs a lot better in this respect which is why it is used / abused on such a widespread basis by this route of administration.

Is this for a school project? If so please ensure you cite EADD / Bluelight as a reference :D

Also, please ensure you consult the plethora of opiate/opioid threads on BL so that you don't make any schoolboy errors.

Bluelight is a brilliant resource for smackheads as it always tells you how many 'users' are online... ;)

Please research what you're taking before you take it - then don't take it...

Heroin addiction is the closest you can get to being institutionalised and removed from society without the hassle of being caught, charged, convicted and sentenced to prison.

The net results are identical - you lose large portions of your life and are left thinking 'WTF happened?'...

Unfortunately, it's a double edged sword because you stand a very good chance of ALSO being caught, charged, convicted and sentenced to prison - in which case you are doubly removed from society and the chances of clawing your way back are remote to say the least...

EVERYONE likes opiates/opioids of one flavour or another - that's why they are best avoided...

I really don't understand myself, iv been a user since 2002, and i loved it for all the reasons most do.. the warmth, that blanket of love that gets wrapped around u, but since the drought in 2010, it hasn't been the same since.....

People say if you're not getting what u want from it why do u still do it and i don't get it myself.. i eventually gave in and started on a meth script in 2013, but i still use daily hoping to get a little duvet around me as i do get about 5% of what i used to get..but i haven't had a nod since 2010, and i'm hopeful that one day i will get it again.. i live in faith that one day this will happen..

i have read from blondin that he still gets good in London, they seem to never have been affected by the drought, its not fair, but suppose u have the pakistanis bringing it straight in and it hasn't been stepped all over as i am from the SW, so by the time it gets down south it gets jumped on all over, i am lucky in the sense though that i do know i'm getting it straight from source in liverpool, but if my one man aint got then there is no point at all getting it from anyone else i know as its been jumped all over, or its just (synthetic) which i think prob about 99% of what is going around is...arh!

Nice way of putting it.

OP: We had a camp bluelight at Glade Festival back in 2007.

Sadly at least three of those people are now dead.

Seriously, if youre trying to deal with some kind of issues through using heroin, it will only get worse. That's no scare tactic - it will just eventually stop working as effectively but still fuck you up.

Take care of your life. Tis precious. :)

I should say i do know three people that were pretty hardcore users that did manage to escape its clutches and go on to lead happy successful lives. But that leaves about another 40 that did not. Too many lost friends and funerals purely because of heroin. It is very very sad.

Yeah attending multiple funerals for young people... even when I've never been connected to the heroin scene, is messed up. Very messed up. And tragically sad.

In the 1990's Australia was swamped with massive amounts of very pure ( up to 90% ) high grade S.E. Asian #4 heroin. So many people i know took it up. At least 20 people i know died during those years. A few died more recently. One guy who was dux of my school is doing ten years for a string of armed robberies. An ex girlfriend from high school is still prostituting herself at 43 and was not looking good when i last saw her. Another (ex) friend has lost all his teeth from methadone and is in a permanent zombie state. He was a promising surfer, a potential world champion..now basically homeless.

To take heroin is really about the worst decision anyone can ever make. If you are lucky you will hate vomiting for hours like me and not continue. If you do continue odds are you will completely and totally fuck up your life and break the hearts of people that care for you.

For those of you using. Get to fucking rehab before you join the list of statistics above.

For what it's worth, I only noticed I might be having a bit of a problem with H the first time I used it for actual pain, as opposed to purely recreationally. But there is still nothing to say I would not have gone on to problematic use, even without that .....

What I can say is, I got very lucky. Under different personal circumstances, I could so easily have wound up losing the roof over my head and/or becoming dependent on sex work. "These things only happen to other people" -- but what everyone always seems to forget is, as far as most of the population is concerned, you are "other people" .....

Just take it on faith, you aren't missing out on a lot. Nobody who has experienced a full-on opiate withdrawal would wish it on their worst enemy.

I really don't (no, honestly) and I didn't even like them when I was addicted to heroin, bizarrely enough. When you keep on doing something you don't even like the effect of, it's not a good sign
