The media invariably portrays heroin users as dribbling incoherent junkies, and only ever seems to depict users injecting (I've seen exactly one instance on TV of a person tooting brown; I won't mention it straight away, in case someone else has seen another). My impression from Real Life is that most users inhale the fumes. Yet non-users seem almost unaware that there is any other route of administration besides the syringe.

So, who here injects, and who chases? (Snorters, swallowers and pluggers are welcome to weigh in too.)
 
Toot, using a pipe and gauze. It's more intense hit than tin foil.

And no its not burning the gear, if the when i take away the flame the pipe is smoking I have fucked up, but with a tiny amount of practise that never happens. I find that with tin foil once you start to get a nod on, you waste gear by burning it.... ESP if you have been taking benzos. :|

Depends on loads of factors , if you are on the street n someone offers you a hit n your sick , you aren't gonna say "oh no thanks i only inhale the fumes" or are you ? i mean come on lets get real about this .
 
Well I have been sick and not take up the over of sharing a 'spoon' of gear and pinning it. It was the closest I have ever come to pinning, glad i didnt :|
 
If someone s got a bag they generally put it all in the spoon , n cook it n if your with them they may offer you some , once its been cooked you can't smoke it.

I 'm talking about hardcore Drug addiction here . Something i no a wee bit about .
Thing is most folk on here are probably gonna be smokers , so its not reflecting most Heroin users n hardly any of the problematic ones .
 
Selection bias here, aren't the most hardcore users unlikely to have a computer and an internet connection? (Not to stereotype, and that is a genuine question).
 
That did sort of occur to me; we Bluelight users by definition have our s#!t more together than the stereotypical dribbling incoherent junkie portrayed in the media, in that we have actually got it together to (1) get on the Internet and (2) write posts that actually make sense.

Side question (and I'm the thread starter so it's not OT :p): What has anyone read or watched that challenges the media stereotype?
 
Hardcore is the wrong word, more out of control. Yeah people who are on the complete self destruct will not be on here! From my experience of being around older users who had big habits, but had learnt to have a normalish life was that the majority of them IV'd, but not a big majority.

I would deffo have called my heroin use problematic in the past, at the moment its on check, hence why im on here :D when im just gear focused, well you just focused on smack. :|

A lot more heroin addicts can have a hectic life, but just about keep it together, than being on the streets begging for money.
 
I'm a snorter, I used to inject but haven't touched a needle in three years, some of you might think snorting is a waste bit it gets me to where I want to be and I don't have a habit at the mo! Smoking makes me sick as fuck so that's not an option anymore, I'm literally sick every time I inhale a tiny bit of smoke! I don't think it's the cut as I've tried a few different sources and i've had some pretty good gear recently, and yes I used pre drought gear for four years so I know my gear is good, I have to buy weight though as in my town it's been jumped all over if I buy by the bag! Anyway I'm starting to ramble now
 
is there such thing has hardcore heroin users in the uk now adays im a long timer and the longest ive ever had off was 2 weeks but apart from 2 years in early 2000s have always smoked . round my area it is so hard to get half the time im finding myself hardly doing it
i suspect junkies online probably are still living at home a sad state of affairs
 
I feel sorry for someone who's MATE would give them such an ultimatum.

please Heroin addiction is fukin awfull n generally leads to some of the darkest places out their if your on the gear n you haven't been to these depths then be fukin thank full ,n the reason why thet show folk injecking on TV or whatever is maybe to scare the shit out of folk from trying a highly addictive drug .

Generally you don't have Mates on the heroin scene , more using buddies.

Im not a junkie ATM, I think staying at home is one of the few things keeping me from getting back on it.... deffo sad state of affairs. :\
 
Hey what's wrong with living at home? I've lived on the streets for a while in the height of my addiction, is that any better? I lived in my car for a bit before I sold it! Lucky my mum took me back in when I got clean, bless her, now I have to tow the line, I use occasionally but I'm in a much better position than three years ago!

what your not a junkie atm ?
What so next week you could be , it sounds like you are a user of Heroin not a junkie for want of a better word.
 
uhm i dont quite see your point?

At the moment im not addicted, so im a user yes. But until a few months ago I was a junkie as in got sick when i didnt use, had to get onto Subutex.

The 'ATM' is recognising I could be a junkie again in the future. But no not next week. I think it was obvious what i meant, if not i aplogise.
 
Oh god now we are getting into what 'junkie' means. Well in my eyes i was, in your maybe i wasnt!

Iv had this conversation before, and I think junkie, means all you care about is using, getting money for scoring not caring about anything else, and that entails.

If your view is different thats cool.

Although I heard junkie originally meant people who steal copper and other precise metals and took them to junk yards for money.
