Hi, I have an issue that's long concerned me regarding the violent jolts (or apparently increasingly violent) shakes jolts, twitches and spazzes; sporadic involuntary movement, i have been suffering since long term use.

is this technically the early stages of cerebellar atrophy? and if so is this permanent. or irreversible?

No offense but I have never experienced this so I have no idea what to tell you.

Have you been to a neurologist? They might be able to tell you more than anyone on here could.

Best of luck, I hope you don't have to experience this forever as it obviously does not sound fun.

none taken, everyone reacts differently to drugs.

i guess maybe the thread is a little misleading, im not claiming that my use has caused any atrophy or that a condition like this even exists with heroin use. im just wondering if the tremors i've experienced are a sign of it.

the reason i ask is because i read that alcoholics suffer from the atrophy i described when they're in the end stages of their disease (nearing death)

i dont view my problems anywhere near that extreme im just wondering if the tremors are an early sign of this.

i was hoping someone with some biology experience (maybe a premed user on the board) could reply to this.

Regarding the diamorphine, I don't believe it is toxic to the brain or body even in the long term (especially not compared to alcohol). Street heroin on the other hand would have adulterants, and injection as an ROA could cause all sorts of problems and infections. Or your symptoms could be unrelated to the dope.

Ah so the only thing you are asking is if the symptoms you are experiencing fit with the symptoms of cerebral atrophy? That would be a question better suited for a medical discussion board and not Other Drugs. I can try maybe try this over in Healthy Living for you?

Dude i get this with high dose suboxone its fine. Its just benign dystonias. Chill out lol.

no i was mainly curious if like alcohol, heroin carries a risk of cerebreal atrophy it appears i likened my tremors, with the atrophy but as the poser above said i might just be experiencing dystonia, dunno never heard of that.

however i dont think its just something i can "chill out" about because the condition did not exist pre-use and both conditions dont appear to have curable treatments, only therapeutic because no cure exists, according to wiki.

It is not harmful! I have the same effects it is caused by opiates!! It is benign!

I get strange twitches and jolts when I'm on high doses of heroin also. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about and it always goes away when the heroin wears off.

could be cuts in the dope where you live. Although when on opiates, when i am laying in bed, right at the stage where i am about to fall asleep I get a violent twitch of my body that sometimes so strong it makes me bolt straight upright.

i get the same thing, and this was from the "quality" tar over on the west coast. nobody else i knew had the problem. might be a reaction to certain individuals
