Harm Reduction Heroin Ampoule Question

A few weeks ago, I made a thread about pharmaceutical heroin ampoules, in the UK:

I actually ended up insufflating about 5mg, after smoking it a few weeks ago. When I insufflated, I expected higher bioavailability etc. What I actually got was no effects, and a shit load of wasted, good H.

I don't understand, why isn't it working insufflated? I got the powder out of a 10mg ampoule, and sniffed it, by cracking the ampoule, emptying it on a phone, and sniffing it. I did it straight away, so it wouldn't have metabolized into morphine yet.

I heard the heroin is freeze-dried, is this why?

If it's heroin freebase (smokeable, not soluble in water) it needs to be made into a salt by the addition of acid before your body can absorb it effectively. So you are left with taking it orally, or smoking it.

Otherwise dissolve it in the minimum amount of vinegar or a little citric acid in distilled water and evaporate it down again.

Freeze drying shouldn't make a difference, if anything it should be *more* easily absorbed.
