Having in the last 2 weeks been told by my Specialist at the local hospital that after 16 weeks of Riboviron and Interferon treatment my blood test shows me to be free of the Hep C virus and despite knowing that I cannot be declared as cured unless I am still shown to be clear in 6 months time I find that my faith in the results given has taken a severe knock after reading that in my locality of the West Country over 700 results have been found to be unreliable.
In this day and age and with the advances in medicine available I think it is an absolute scandal that people in my position should be put through the trauma of not knowing whether or not to trust the information being given us by so called professionals. It is not just me but this impacts on my partner as well as my family.
A situation such as this should never occur and the sooner it is sorted out the better for all concerned

I am so sorry to hear about this! :(

Is it OK if I move this post to The Dark Side?

You can start a new post in New Member Introductions explaining to us a little about yourself.

Just for everyone's benefit, hepatitis C can be passed through contaminated water, cookers, cottons, spoons, and any other injection equipment. You don't have to share needles to get this virus, and more people have it than realize that they have it.

I hope that soon you can be cured - even if you may not be now. There is a chance that they weren't wrong, if I'm not mistaken?

If you know that they were mistaken you can always contact another doctor to ask if they should be liable for malpractice. If you can find another medical professional to agree with you, then contact a lawyer as well.

Hep C result mistakes [cont.]

Thanks for your encouraging reply Capt. Luckily I am starting to feel a lot better in myself which will have a lot to do with coming off the meds but I have an optimistic nature and have a good feeling about it all. Also after all the hassle I have had to go through with the DHSS what with appeals to claim ESA I have had enough of fighting "the system" for a few pennies extra. As you say, chances are I'm one of the lucky ones with a correct result.

Awesome!

I'm so glad to hear the odds are on your side.

I hope that follow up testing will show that you are indeed one of the lucky ones! :D
