So I had surgery in april, was on 160mgs of methadone. Awful!! They knew this so for 4 days they gave me 4mgs hydromophie iv every 4 hours along w 2-10mg oxycodone(oral) every 4 hours. I dont think it helped at all. I was in so much pain Id literally cry. Anyways I have another one coming up & granted im only on 35mgs of meth now id assume that would help alot, right?? I was talking to my dr & he suggested tramodol instead of other opiates.
Do you think this will work better. Back in April(I had to have my appendix out) I talked to some of the nurses at my clinic & one told me she had the exact same surgery & was able to walk after the first day-she was on simmilar opiates but not as high as a dose(after the surgery) I couldnt even turn over! I guess Im asking what really is the protocol for having a surgery w a massive tolerance, what can they give you for pain that would actually work?

With you taking 35mg of methadone daily, tramadol isn't going to do fuck all for your pain. In-patient, a fentanyl/ketamine PCA pump would be nice if the doses are appropriate giving your tolerance, though the dilaudid might hold you. I wish you the best of luck.

^ Best advice. When you talk to the drs and nurses let them know what you take and how often. They should not treat you bad or look at you funny. They should take care of your pain appropriately. I wish you luck.
