I am certain this has to have happened to someone before and I have a question.
For the past 2 years I have been a patient to my psychiatrist which prescribes me
3 meds for depression, anxiety and ADHD. Unfortunately (the benzo for anxiety and amphetamines
for my ADHD) obviously normally only get filled once a month as they are regulated
controlled substances. But obviously, this today is freaking me out.....I just had my beachbag
with all my meds stolen at the beach today so, what are the chances my doctor will
believe my story and understand I will go into withdrawals from the xanax and even
the adderall, but since this DID HAPPEN.....and I HAVE NEVER ASKED him for emergency refills before,
is their a protocol in place to protect patients like me without being doubted?

If you haven't asked before then do it, most doctors will let you get away with it ONE time. If your that nervous just say your concerned about the benzo's really because of the seizure risk after you looked on-line etc......this is why I keep my meds at home, and what I have to carry with me I take the BARE MINIMUM I need(in a bottle from the month before so I don't get law trouble). I mean it's ask or go without or get on the street... Sucks that it was on the beach and you don't know who it was though, otherwise you could press charges against the person, then it most likely wouldn't be a problem at all, but shouldn't be if you have a good relationship with the doctor and this hasn't happened before...

Thanks for the reassurance, that is what I was thinking. I normally do exactly what you said too -- leave them at home and just take a few in my
pill container but this trip happened very fast and spontaneously and so I just grabbed the bottles because I did not have time to fill my empty
"to go" container I carry in my purse. I am thinking all will be ok...... :D

Pretty certain if you get your RX stolen, you have to file a police report, then show your Dr. I could be wrong, but I think that's how it works.

Yup u might need a police report. Your not in pain management so it may be a little different in your case. I knew someone who lost her pills and she needed the paperwork but that was for pain meds so idk for sure...

File a police report then show it to dr.
I know with schedule 2 scripts you are allowed one re-write per year(united states). For other schedules of scripts its probably a little more lax.

Yep, my psych doctor gave me another script after blacking out on the xanax she gave me 2 days prior. Filed a police report(kicked over a chair and pulled some shit from the droor to make it look like a robery).

Was bard out before the day was up.

this is verging on sourcing.

don't keep ALL your meds on you or with u is what I can say for future except when you are on way from pharmacy or on refill day.

There is nothing that says you have to file a police report. Depending on your relationship with your doctor, he might just issue a new rx. Still not a bad idea to get one, though.

Get a police report but understand people have been cut off by there doctors for much less. It may. Or be perfect harm reduction but if there is anyway you can supply your benzo illicitly this month I would try that.

Thanks for all the advice. Yes....I will file a police report and on top of that I have
started a complaint process to his bosses because he did not just say no....but refused
to talk to me on the phone. It's like he didn't believe me and the WORST -- I believe
unethical thing he did is refuse to fill my antidpressant Wellbutrin so at least I don't backslide
on my depression. I have had it with his office, probably also the fax that it is VA GOVT RUN
for low income people like me, he has so many patients and is overworked -- he treated me
like a number. I told his higher up when I put in complaint I will be going to Urgent Care Emergency
Walk-In Clinic to get some temporary Xanax from them, and already found me a PRIVATE PSYCHIATRIST
thank goodness that recently I got a job an insurance. Totally shocked.....never asked him for any re writes
in over 2 years. This doctor is an idiot and should retire.

Not even a little bit shocked. Spend any time reading drug boards and you will see the same thing over and over again especially this day in age with controlled meds and this Nazi government.

I would of kept my mouth shut and sourced my own to hold me over until the next refill. Good luck with your new p-doc.

Talk to the doctor that prescribes your medications about this. Someone I know he left benzos in his car overnight that he takes for being bipolar, and of course someone stole them; but he just told his shrink/doctor and was prescribed new ones.
