Healthy Recipes/Mixes v."yes, i did make that up myself ;P "

^^ that must have been one garlicky hummus, my friend!
I meant ABOUT 25 minutes boiling plus whatever it takes to cool down.

^ap....homemade hummus... NOM!

I made this rando sandwich the other day with stuff I had around:

1 piece Trader Joe's multigrain naan, toasted
cottage cheese spread over the naan
layer of mixed greens
layer of thinly sliced tart apples
layer of thinly sliced cooked chicken breast
salt and pepper

roll it up, and eat

I'm on a pretty strict diet right now, so am limited to:

*Natural yoghurt
*Lean meat
*Vegetables - not including potato, sweet potato, corn and a few others
*Mountain Bread (this stuff is fantastic)
*Small amounts of quinoa.

It's a very low-carb and no sugar diet - i have had to cut out all sugar (including lactose & fructose) for the next few weeks to starve the candida bacteria out of my stomach. I suffer terribly from bloating and heartburn, and it's been attributed to my horrific sweet-tooth feeding the nasties in mah belly.

The thing that's really grinding my gears is not having fruit. I LOVE fruit. I can even do without the cakes/biccies, etc, but fruit *sigh* :(

I can have Stevia though, but have to be careful about how much to dose, it can be tricky!

I'd like to try this recipe though - i think it should be ok (i can have avocado - it's brilliant for regulating blood sugar), and it looks yummy!

Raw Avocado Cacao Mousse serves 4 to 6

4 ripe avocados
1/3 cup raw coconut nectar (or a couple of drops of liquid stevia)
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
fresh fruit and nuts for garnish (not for me)

In the bowl of a blender or food processor, blend avocado until smooth. Add all other ingredients, blending until mixture is uniform. Chill for about 2 hours in the fridge or half an hour in the freezer. Garnish with fresh fruit or chopped nuts.

Note on the recipe:
If you want to try this recipe, but don't have the raw coconut sweetener or cacao powder on hand (they are specialty type of items I wanted to try), agave, honey and unsweetened cocoa powder are fine-tasting substitutes. The mousse will no longer be strictly raw, but it is still delicious! And it retains the spirit of the dish.

Yum! :)

Healthy 2 minute chocolate cake for the fitness enthousiast

Who said healthy isnt good for you :D

I preffer a glass bowl for this.

- 2 scoops of your favorite chocolate protein powder (about 40 grams total)
- 1 tbsp Peanutbutter
- 1 tbsp greekyoghurt or cottage cheese(whole or lowfat whatever fits your macro's)
- 1 whole egg
- 30 grams ultra fine oats (shredded)
- 1tbsp unsweetend cacao powder

Stir it all together till you get an even paste. Add a little milk or water so the texture isnt too thick. Stir again.

Put in microwave for 2 minutes.. If some liquid remains in the middle add another minute or use it as frosting :P

Voila. lowcarb high protein and healthy fats.. In a delicious dessert

Add more oats and some applesauce or squash some banana's into the mix if using as a postworkout treat..

If your doing lowcarb/keto skip the oats all together and maybe add another egg or some peanutbutter

sekio's Magnificent Hummus

fistful of parsely (optional)
either half a red or yellow bell pepper OR... a teaspoon each of chili and paprika powder
half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper
four cloves garlic
dash olive oil
juice from 2 lemons
salt and black pepper to taste

Blend it all up in a food processor and serve with hot oiled pita breads.

"Paleo Pancakes"

2 ripe plantains
1 ripe avocado
6 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
[misc] (berries, chopped mango, nuts, poppyseed, cinnamon, fried scallops, bacon bits, anything else you'd put in pancakes)

Mash the plantains and avocado as much as possible. If you have a mixer, use it; if not, do what you can with a fork or whisk. Beat the eggs in along with [misc] and fry in butter or coconut oil.
