Hello. I was just thinking of something, would it seem true that healthy people get more from substances? This is with users who use more than every other month or something. Possibly once a week? Also with cannabis could this be true for daily users?

I noticed that once I started making healthier food choices and exercising, My RC body load would disappear and it would turn into a high.

Also since I lost some weight my Cannabis high is feels more euphoric and last longer.

since i lost 15 kgs and improved my health out of sight my trips are so much better. also i used to suffer high blood pressure problems (was 145/100, now 120/80) which caused me some massive problems when i used to trip, especially since i was prone to thinking about my high blood pressure which only made all those sensations and body load that much more intense. now i dont suffer those problems anymore, or when i do its so much less significant than it used to be that it hardly even bothers me now. now that i lost the weight its easy to keep off because everything else in my life has significantly improved with my health.

It certainly makes enough sense. Also, I've noticed I feel so much better the day after a trip if I force myself to eat during the experience, assuming it's one of those longer ones. Going up to 12 hours without eating is stinky. Even if it's just some potato chips or fruit, feels good man. When I went through my phase of heavy tripping--maybe once a week--I'd always make sure to eat a hearty starchy meal 1/2 way through and the difference in energy level was apparent.

i usually plan some sort of light healthy nutritious meal before i trip on something if its going to be a decently long thing and i probably wont be bothered doing it later. i know at some point ill want it, but eventually itll slip my mind and i wont want it anymore, etc etc, but if its there then i can just eat it whenever and feel better for it. i find if i eat crap it generally makes me feel crap, but i had to learn that lesson about 50 times before it stuck.

when I used to run everyday and was a mere 8st10 I would get drunk so much easier and quicker it was unreal.
But I wasnt taking drugs back then but I guess I would of needed less.

Felix, I couldn't agree with you more.
I'm a healthy 19 year old, therefore i can eat anything, i mean anything, and not gain a single pound.

Regardless, i started eating healthier (replaced all drinks with water and tea, eating more greens, staying as far away as i can from anything processed or crap like that)
and my trips are so much purer, less body load like you said.

Usually after tripping on PEA's i would always feel nasty, dirty, it felt like my sweat contained some of the shit the processed food i ate contained, nasty...

Anyway, Shambles once said "healthy body --> healthy mind --> healthy trip"

And I couldn't agree more!

I find i have smoother trips when I'm physically active, such as hiking.

I'll wait for the come-up to get through the worst of it at home and then go outside and do something, makes the trip so much better. :)

I have had direct experience with the effects of health on the quality of trips (and in general, everything else, too).

I suffer from a chronic illness primarily affecting the colon, though there are other symptoms as well. One of the treatments for active disease is oral prednisone, which has a slew of unpleasant systemic effects if taken for long enough or at high enough doses. ("Enough" appears to be relative -- my doctors were entirely unwilling to define it 8))

My "heavy phase" of tripping happened to coincide with the half-year or so immediately following my diagnosis, while I was experiencing the disease in its active state. My trips during this period, almost as a rule, lacked the "magic" that was present before I became ill. While I was on prednisone, my mental state deteriorated, and the anger precipitated by literally everything in the surrounding world leaked into my trips. I literally couldn't trip 75% of the time I took a psychedelic; I just felt "altered" in a sense, but without much of a mental shift, regardless of the dose. :X On one trip in particular (150mg harmine HCl + 25mg 4-AcO-DMT), I experienced a series of ego-deaths, where the first "thought" upon "waking" and the last before "dying" each time were envenomed with anger.

As my health improved and I slowly tapered off of the prednisone (without a doctor's supervision because I didn't have health insurance and couldn't afford to see one - isn't America great? NB: prednisone withdrawals are not fun) my trips became more powerful and less unpleasant. I can now take a regular dose and trip, and my most recent trips have been among the best I have had. :)

I should add that as a consequence of my having the combination of little money and a digestive condition, I now prepare all of my meals from fresh foods and no longer consume processed foods. I decided while on a 4-aco-dmt trip to alter my diet in this way while I was still sick, and that decision has made all the difference.

When I eat well, I have excellent trips. Though, that isn't surprising, because If I'm managing to eat healthy and exercise, it's likely that I'm also managing other areas of my life well. And that feeling tends to make good trips.

I've noticed much less in the way of weird peripheral side effects of various different psychedelics since i've been living a much healthier lifestyle. When I was younger I ate mostly meat, few fruits & veggies, and nothing organic. Now that I eat meat (Usually sushi) only once or twice a week (sometimes less), mostly vegetables, lots of fruit juice (actual fruit juice, not the high-fructose corn syrup mess), and try and get as much as possible of whatever I'm eating organic, I not only feel better in general, but also feel better while tripping.
Since 2005, when I first started eating healthier, i've noticed less of the odd leg pains i would get while tripping, usually in the groin, inner thigh area, in fact, I can't remember the last time i got that. Much less of the "dirty" drugged type feeling, and much less nasuea, which used to always accompany my trips, now it almost never does.

Whether this is actually better effects from a drug, or just being more aware that your body is healthy during a state of heightened awareness, I don't know. But eating & living healthy is a no-lose situation.

Let's not forget the importance of excersize:

I just started running 2 months ago,
and my sleep has drastically improved, i still get my 8 hours, but i wake up much less frequently

My energy has improved,

I have fewer aches in general,

It really is win-win

This statement could not be more on point.

I'm a vegan and when I cheat and/or stop exercising and/or miss my supplements I always feel it when I'm tripping. The high is never as good and my mind seems to travel places that I would rather it not and the afterglow is never as pleasant.

When my body is in tip top shape I find that my trips are more 'productive' in that my desire for self-exploration is much more prominent and I have little/no chance of allowing my surroundings to effect my trip for the worse.

My head, my body, my trip :)
