Hello, after my friend started meth binging, (she has done it 12 times over the past 2 years without any ill effects like this) her throat appears to be enlarged (I can see the tonsils closing in, and sometimes she says it feels like they are constricting around the little flap thing in the back of her throat which creates a sensation as if someone was squeezing her throat) and her tongue is swollen. 2 days later, the swelling has not gone down.. Why is this? Other than that she has no symptoms. Also no pain is associated with the swelling.

This happened after almost a month binge in October, she got clean for 11 days, swelling persisted (wasn't as bad as it is now though) and once she started going again, it got to where it is now. After like an 8 day binge (with sleep and eating and taking vitamins and what not, with a few days of being clean as well). It only seems to be scary and freak her out into a panic when she is coming down, it's as if she can feel it constricting, she says.

Has anyone else had this happen before? My friend is addicted to this street amphetamine and does not seem to be planning on stopping anytime soon. Dad was an addict for 20+ years, mom was an addict for maybe 5-10 years. Both hold it together pretty damn well too, I must say :)

All information will be greatly appreciated. No rude comments please. I will write an intro later, if you guys would like. Right now my friend just wants someone to tell her something she wants to hear so she can use with peace of mind tonight.. I know. Terrible. -_-

Is a visit to the doctor out of the question? Because.. that's going to probably be the best thing.. and the majority of posters will recommend the same. When it comes to health issues, it really is the only thing we can do as the majority of us on here are not medical professionals and even if we were, without seeing your friend first hand, we could never give a 100% accurate diagnosis..
