Hello there everyone. I am Matt. I have been using Crystal Meth for only a few months.
I did not expect that it would come to this. I need to quit using it. After 2-3 days I start to withdrawal. I get so sleepy and anxious. Its a bitch. I cant do anything because I am so sleepy, but I cant sleep because I am so anxious. I get so irritated to the point where every little sound annoys me. I cannot deal with this. I have been vaping CBD Oil and it helps a little bit, BUT I have also been trying to get off of Prozac. I have no where to go. Rehab isn't an option neither is talking to any of my loved ones. If I were to come clean about this it would ruin everything because I am SOBER according to everyone.

Is there any at home methods to help cope with the withdrawal. I literally am hoping there is a miracle mix of home based things that will help me. I know to that I must remain active. I am going to start walking to get my mind off of the shit. Is it possible to quit on my own? I know it is extremely addictive, but that's what the said about Heroin... And I can casually use Heroin and not withdrawal. I want to get back to those days when Heroin and weed was all I do. I DONT want to do Meth anymore, but the withdrawal symptoms make me want to use more.Thank you for your time. I hope someone can give me some advice that is worth it to ME.

Rehab is not my thing and I cant face it. Please do not suggest it because finances wont allow it either. It would break my parents hearts to see me off to Rehab. Counseling doesn't help me because I have to many problems and trouble trusting people that it is not beneficial to me. They always look down on me to! Once they find out about my drug abuse history they begin to treat me differently. They make me feel like there is something wrong with me.

I am on a new weed regimen. I smoke weed every night before bed now to help me sleep. I say it "Helps" with insomnia and anxiety when really it sort of helps me deal with the Meth withdrawal. I have been eating and sleeping decently usually
6 or so hours and eating at least two times a day or I try to at least eat once a day. I have been dealing with getting of my antidepressant as well. It is hard I have to admit. Living life as a normal person and then having that side of me that uses drugs....

Meth is ruining my life though. I am failing college because I needed to do some Meth to get by that day. I am missing work because I am trying to get off of it which leads me to using again. My biggest question is: HOW LONG WILL THE WITHDRAWAL LAST! I keep getting different answers. I understand that it is different for everyone. Is it only severe for the first 7 days and then does it just eventually go away once your body has detoxed?

I have been sober for two days, but I just know that the moment that I cannot deal with it anymore that I am going to use it again. I need help getting past all of that... Its s bad I get anxious just waiting for buddy to load my shit in his bubble. Once it is loaded I take three big rips which gets me feeling better. It is so bad that all it takes is a hit of Meth to feel normal again.

Thank you for the advice I will be posting updates if anything new happens. I REALLY need to do this by myself and at home. If anyone can answer my ONE question that no one seems to ever answer I will love them forever. I just need to know how long I have to deal with this shit, so I can mentally prepare for it.

I went to rehab for 60 days in florida. Guess what? I never touched crack again. and it's been two years. and it was FREE. At the same time I can relate because I am addicted to taking Adderall everyday.

I did not want to go to rehab, but I did anyway. I never tried meth in my life either, so I don't really abuse the adderall, but I do take it everyday and it's hard for me to stop. So I can relate on some level.

Considering how much you typed up and the fear of rehab, your prolly really stoned or took your last toot of tina.

Cannabis might be your best bet.

Forget the withdrawal, prepare to not be able to focus, have anxiety, College will be a pain in the ass to finish, you will be lethargic...and then your teeth might start falling. It takes on average five years for the brain to recover from heavy meth use.

Be prepared to cope with life with massive amounts of lethargy.

Order Benzos or sleepers and sleep like Fuck! When you awake do a course of 5htp and dlpa for a month eating healthy and EXERCISE!

Would Heroin be a good substitute since I casually use which is 1-2 times a week with 0.1-0.3 max doses to avoid binging on opium.

Heroin is probably not a good option for Meth withdrawal. You risk switching one bad addiction for another.

Hey Matt, sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I can definitely relate to rehab not being an option and not wanting family to find out. You CAN definitely quit meth on your own but you need to know it will be rough for about a week. Not rough like coming off of opiates/benzos, but you will be VERY tired and not in a great place mentally or emotionally. Coming off doing jib for as long as you have, you will feel a big shock when you don't do it-your brain learns to function somewhat normally after awhile, and it isn't going to be comfortable. But you WILL be able to sleep once the meth leaves your body-and you will sleep a lot.

The good news is, as withdrawals go, quitting meth is pretty quick, and just making up your mind to 'go with it' will take you a long way.

Do you live by yourself? Whether or not you do, arrange to have some time alone, without work, school or social obligations. A week would probably be good. If you can get a LIMITED supply of benzo's, or some seroquel, do it. Pick a time to do your last hit, take a valium or xanax or whatever, and then let it happen. The next 48 hrs will be the worst, after that it's more just extreme exhaustion and cravings. Drink water/gatorade, eat healthy food, and above all, sleep. If it's what you need to do, you can do it! Good luck. Oh, and get rid of any sources/dealers you can easily get a hold of, BEFORE quitting, because trust me, extra temptation you're not going to want.

the cravings are going to be the worst part and will last a good few months. I had friends who would just punch me in the arms as hard as they could anytime I mentioned it because it literally crossed my mind every 2-3 minutes for like 3 months after I stopped smoking. I couldn't quit on my own and finally had to move away from it to get off of it for good.

As for using heroin, bad idea. I originally started smoking speed to get over an opiate addiction... which later resurfaced once I got off the speed. Deal with your addiction, don't just substitute one drug for another... --- take it from the guy on suboxone : )

Iv been using meth for around 4 years and im 19 almost 20. started of slow then got up to using pretty much everyday. (On good/ bad day which ever way you look at it a half g a day)
Everyone has there own methods and what they prefer but for me this worked:
- yes the the first week is hard but its the next few months, the hardest thing is staying away from the temptations.
- i did the cold turkey way
- i found its allot of mind over matter, the more you think about how bad it is the worse it is, allot of it is in your head.(don't get me wrong it is bad but you just need to be positive)
-I dont think using other drugs to take your mind off it helps because you just replace one with the other, i took oxy and smoke weed but never worked.
- i found staying away from people you know who use it is a good thing all my mate always had it so i stayed away for a while.
- drink plenty of water, gatorade or something that can replenish Electrolytes.
- go for runs or gym just keep your self busy, even at night if you can sleep play xbox/ps3 just something that stops you thinking about it.
- you cant slowly wein your self off like some people do with heroin you just gotta do it.

Yes its hard but its worth it in the end because it can escalate quickly and get you in trouble.
I started selling just to pay for mu own habit.
I got in trouble with police lost my job and pretty much destroyed my family.

Everyone is different but this is how i did it.
Hope it all goes well man :)

Take it from a guy with nothing but weed and heroin.. Suboxone isn't an option =[ no one can know.

Benzos aren't those used to quit heroin to? I don't think I care about the heroin it doesn't fuck with me as much as the meth. honestly meth has made me an anxious monster. Cant even go a few days without smoking any meth or it is hell.

meth addiction is like 95% psychological. It's the mental aspect that's hard. The little voice in your head saying "smoke dope" every fifteen seconds" of every waking hour..

As for the Suboxone comment .. i was making a joke about trading one drug for another.. because that's exactly what i did. Traded opiates for Suboxone. Someone needs to invent a Suboxone for meth and they'd be a rich ass motherfucker.

A transfer of addiction, when you are talking about meth, is almost always safer. But that is only a place to start.

Heroin doesn't phase me.. Ive been addicted. I know when to stop and the withdrawal is manageable... I don't mind pain I mind grogginess more.

^This is pretty good advice.

The really terrible sleeping and eating constantly goes away in a week or two. The cravings get worse around the 3 - 4 week mark and you'll have to put up with them for a good long time. But it's doable, and it gets easier.

It sounds like a lie, but exercise really does help.

You've got to treat each symptom of the withdrawal as a separate problem.

Anxiety: Take a Benzo as needed. Don't take them all the time though, nor too many, because then you'll have to deal with an even worse withdrawal. Since meth withdrawals can take around 3-5 weeks to start to feel normal again, and 6 months to 1 year to get fully better, these are only something I'd recommend on an as-needed basis. Basically take one if your anxiety is really bad, but try not to.

Depression: An SSRI like Welbutrin is good. These take a few weeks to really notice any changes, but since meth withdrawal takes months to fully recover from, this can help make it a lot easier.

Anhedonia (lack of pleasure from life): Gets better over time. Just do the things that used to give you pleasure or you want to do, even if they aren't as fun. Your brain will learn to synthesize its own dopamine again, but it first has to repair the damaged receptors, after that, you need to re-condition it to release dopamine from hobbies instead of meth. Try not to get too much from eating, however, as this will cause you to gain fat back you likely lost on meth, which can easily trigger a relapse, especially in the mentally compromised state a with addict who is withdrawing is in.

ADHD/Obesity/Narcolepsy: Really just switch to a legal stimulant like Adderall or Dexedrine. Don't mention your meth abuse though.

As for supplements...

Magnesium, Zinc, Potassium, and B Vitamins should do the trick. Try to avoid eating too many high-simple carbohydrate sugary foods, which you'll crave, but won't offer the energy your body thinks they will, certainly have some, but get some protein, fat, fiber, and other micro-nutrients as well.

Meditation is also highly recommend. Especially if you are super low energy and just want to sleep and eat.

Keep in mind that meth withdrawal is only psycho/neurological, there's no physical withdrawal at least, unlike heroin.

You can mind over matter literally all of it, aside from the damaged dopamine and serotonin receptors, but those will take around 6 months to fully heal.

Meth addiction is not psychological at all, the compulsion to use meth is. However, it is neurological in the sense that damaged serotonin and dopamine receptors take awhile to heal, but they do make a full recovery, much like how quitting smoking can fully heal your lunges in years, even with decades of smoking.

The hard part is not re-lapsing when you get no pleasure out of life, are depressed, withdrawn, anxious, stressed, etc, because of the lack of dopamine and serotonin. Meth does have two legal remedies to wean off of it; SSRIs for serotonin and stimulant medications for dopamine. I know there's more than they two chemicals involved with meth, but those are the primary ones.

As for the Suboxone comment .. i was making a joke about trading one drug for another.. because that's exactly what i did. Traded opiates for Suboxone. Someone needs to invent a Suboxone for meth and they'd be a rich ass motherfucker.

Suboxone or methadone or what have you are used because of the physical withdrawals to heroin, IE: "dopesick", these prevent that.

Nothing can help the psychological element aside from cognitive behavior therapy, counseling, hypnosis, or meditation of some sort.
