within the confines of my mind, reflected external
its happened to me a few times recently, the first time i was randomly dreaming i was sitting in my living room, and i noticed thingsd wernt quite 'right'. and you know that semi kind of, just being in the moment dream state your just in the dream and as your there its all you'v ever known and it completely normal, well in this dream i suddenly realised i was dreaming, i know its hard to believe understand and im not explaining it as good as i could i suppose, but as i realised i became fully aware, i was suddenly like 'me' my fully conscious state, but in a dream. it freaked me out cuz i asked my sister who was there, wether i could wake up and she said no, so i got freake, i closed my eyes and focused all my energy on 'waking up' and i did! i was lying on my mates sofa all of a sudden, just come out of my dream, and i was fully aware of what i had just experianced, i was fully aware that i had just made myself wake up and 'traveled' back to my sleeping body... i don't know much about it but my mum recons it was astral projection, i don't know though, lucid dreaming more the likely bet, but since then, iv been 'aware' in my dreams, like i can make conscoius choices, and im fully 'me' in the dream. which is mad, iv met other people in my dreams and they'v been properly amazed that i have spoken to them, which has made me think that we'v been in each others dreams on an astral level, iv shown people how to fly iv shown people how to wake up, or instructed them on it and iv seen them dissapear from in fornt of me in the dream world (probably back to their beds) and its properly taken my sleeping experiance up to a next level... iv always had the maddest most craziest dreams of properly detailed lands and far of imaginary worlds with people native to the lands and background histories and stuff, im wondering weather a acualy 'travel' to astral destinations when i 'sleep' and go on 'real' adventures... id like to think that its true but then its probably just an extremely overimaginative mind in its subconscoius mode......

has any one else experianced similar things, or even better met someone like me in there dreams that has showed them they are dreaming and taught them things about the dream world?

you may think im crazy... but you can think what you wan't... im not... im very sane, what i am is open minded and prepared to believe what i expriance first hand, although i am stuck between weather it is completely internal or i do really travel places......

info people..... info info............ as i said, has any of you had similar experiances and if so what is you opinion on it?

:)

i've done that before, been able to conciously make choices in my dreams, but I can;t do it on command. :X I've been trying for a few months. I've been keeping a dream journal, trying to think about it before I go to sleep, etc. And of course, flipping light switches a la Waking Life.
I don't think you really travel places, I've dreamed that I went over to this dudes house that I had never been to to pick up weed, but when I went there it wasn't anything like I had dreamed.:\
Cool shit nonetheless, I hope I can get it down so that I can do it regularly, its so much fun=D .

lucid dreaming is very cool ......suppose to be controllable...like starring in your own movie every night...there are many books on this topic ......

It's happened to me several times. Sometimes my "dream persona" just snaps into it and is aware that I'm dreaming. Sometimes I'm able to "will" an outcome for a dream, but other times I am helpless, though aware that I am dreaming. It's quite an awesome experience. I've had them since I was a child.

yea true like sometimes im not so aware but something happens in a dream that makes me remember im dreaming, iv told a close friend in a dream "i think we're dreaming" i havn't seen her yet to ask if she'd had the same experiance, though, it would be cool if she'd remembered/experianced me telling her we were dreaming. some times i know im dreaming but i have no power over what happens in the dream and i have to accomplish a certain task in order to awaken, wich sometimes freakily is connected to certain things about my personality in life, as in i had to learn to stop running from these people that were chasing me, i though hang on... this is my dream, so i stopped turned round and as i did so these people got really scared and ran off, i cast my arm out towards them with the intent ofsend in a kind of force wave to knock them over and it happened unsurprisingly, then i took off and flew really really high straight up out of the atmosphere and a started falling through space like really fast 'down' as though space was a void with gravity.... i found this very pleasant... randomly i knew i had to reach this certain point which was like the threash hold between the dream world and the waking world, which was like this huge 'barrier' of energy, as i got closer to the 'barrier' i could see like thousands of sleeping people, well more visualy sense all these sleeping people, and i honed in on mine, don't ask me how i just knew it was mine, just kinda the 'feeling' im used to in my bed in my room, my particular vibe as it were, and i fell through the midst of all these sleeping peoples energy kinda thing that made the barrier, and 'fell' into me!...... i woke with a jump.... like you almost feel as though youv 'landed' in your body...... as you can imagine i couldn't help but grin a little, knowing id just been on this mad journey... it's almost like you don't sleep, just go into a different half of you and the reality that half of you exists in....... i can't explain it but it's fooookin GREAT!!!

:)

I've had it happen a fair few times over the years. I think the last time was about a week ago. It usually occurs when something bad is about to happen, like I'm about to be in pain from being attacked or hit by a car (mmm...pleasant dreams ;)). I'll know the bad thing is going to happen soon, and I'll suddenly realise "Hey, thats okay because this is a dream and I can wake myself up any time I want!". Then 30 seconds later when that bad thing is moments from happening I just think to myself "Wake up!" and I do.

^ Yeah, I had that too. I'd be falling off a building & realise I could just fly away, or teleport my son in danger back to me. I found that I could control the duration of lucidity if I tried not to focus on any one detail. Haven't dreamt in months though, I'm only getting about 4-5 hours sleep a day. :(

yes
usually i think "hey i always think when im awake, that the next time i realize im dreaming i have to do cool stuff, like make things appear and fuck girls"

then i get less conscious and just continue with a random dream plot, or get too conscious of myself and wake up

ive found a way that works to keep yourself in a dream if you are waking up (if you feel two sets of eyes and have to be realyl careful not to open the real eyes, or to move your body, etc). hold your arms out and spin around in circles and you'll be grounded back into teh dream. very useful for when you realize you are in a dream, become conscious, then start to wake up beacuse of it

i only dream on weekends beacuse i never dream if i wake up early. i have to sleep in excessively to get good dreams

It happens to me quite a bit..... infact it happened last night. my favorite thing to do when i lucid dream is fly... as i did last night

take some melatonin
set your alarm for 2 hours later
fall asleep
wake up to the alarm
chug a coke
fall back asleep

have fun

what will really blow your mind is when you realize that you are dreaming while awake :)

I'm nearly always aware that I'm dreaming. I've had very few dreams - that I can remember anyway - where I don't realise I'm dreaming and only figure it out once I've woken up. Weirdly, all my most disturbing dreams are when I know I'm dreaming - don't know why, logically it seems to me that the scariest ones should be when you think they're real.

I've experienced sleep paralysis, and lucid dreams, but I've found it very different and almost nothing like proper 'dreaming'. The first few times it happened were rather frightening, but I think it's kind of cool now.

There was a period in my life where this happened monthly.
I never became fully lucid, though, as I could not easily make objects appear at will, but I could rather easily fly, converse with actors in my dream, and control their "minds".

here is a trick. get in the habit when you're awake of questioning whether you're dreaming. A quick test is to glance over twice at a digital clock. If it changes into random jibberish when you glance back at it, you are likely dreaming.

It can be a bit of a mindfuck though. I've been in a dream before and wondered if I was actually dreaming or if I had taken a psychedelic and just thought I was dreaming. :)

I've done this; it works. It is also cool in and of itself because you can spin REALLY fast, like a frictionless top.

ebola

so im glad to hear its alot more common than i first thought... the thing with me is when im dreaming i know im dreaming because things are blatantly not how there sposed to be in reality, either 1) im in a completely random land iv never been before or 2) i can do things like fly or 'move like a ninja' like how you see people move on crouching tiger hidden dragon, like really floaty jumps and stuff kinda like moon physics but you can totaly control where you move to. lucid dreaming is a lot of fun but do you recon you travel to worlds (actual realities of sorts) created by the collective sleeping minds of people and comunicate with them on higher say astral levels or do you recon its completely internal and just you inside your own head, i think there both equaly as believable if you think about it and if you have knowledge enugh about the astral levels and such, which i do, so im preppared to believe the former.... non the less i find its completely changed my sleeping experiance, and i enjoy falling asleep to see which adventure i'll go on next.... iv found also if things happen i don't like in dreams i can wake my self up by really consentrating all my energy on doing so and it works, but it's not like iv just woken up from being asleep, but more that i'vjust traveled back to my body from some far off place. :)

Its not "knowledge" of astral levels, its the "belief" in astral levels. There is a distinction.

Damn, this is what I need to learn to do. Things are blatently not how theyre supposed to be in my dreams, but I don;t see anything wrong with it at the time.:\ This shit is hard.

yeah i know what you mean. it's sort of like you're dizzy, but instead of just being wobbly, you're actually moving. i didn't feel like a top, i felt like i was moving fast in sharp curves for a little bit. it's interesting how your mind will emulate dizziness in dreams

It's not so hard if you make it a habit to check in waking life.

is melatonin an over the counter drug? where do i go to get this

Yes, it can be bought anywhere, I would recommend trying it all without the coke as that can have some negative effects.

My best is that most of the times when I wakeup from dreaming, and most times are really cool dreams, I will wakeup and realize how wicked they were. I then decide that I need to continue this and fall back to sleep and carry on from where I left off.
