Hash oil

I'm in the process of making hash oil, nothing set in concrete but I've got a bit of a plan. Made me think of the the old days when it was easy to get and easy to smoke.......any one know where it came from? 'cause if I could get it then there must have been tons around ..........I assume it was some Asian country how did they process such large volumes?
