Ironically, I just got what I guess what I would describe as a lateral promotion that means too much responsibility to go back to school anytime soon. But it was talked about that I would be an excellent paralegal candidate and that I should definitely consider it. I told them NOT to bring up law school anymore cuz it ain't happenin'.
There's another certification I'm beginning study for now that I passed the Notary Public exam that could make my salary jump quite a bit, get me more senior status at my firm, and clear the way for me to pursue a paralegal education. I would imagine I will do well in the program - just have to find the right one that allows me a work-life balance. Luckily there are lots of those. It being a stereotypically feminine occupation (this is changing DRASTICALLY - I know a few male paralegals) a lot of paralegal students are working moms, so I don't think it will be as time-intensive as other programs. I also might be able to do an online program.
I'm going to revisit the issue after I've been with my firm a little longer. How many professions let you double your income in less than 5 years!
