SWIM is a light opiate user, specifically Dilaudid, 2mg's at a time IVed. They have noticed that more and more frequently, as they are preparing a shot, they will become nauseous, and sometimes actually vomit before anything has been taken. I believe this would be mentally and not physically induced, just wondered if anyone else has ever experienced this before.

Haha yes my thinking exactly. Most frequently this happens after I have been clean for a couple months. Maybe my bodies way of saying to stop going back. Had quit for over a year in 201-2012

Perhaps either anxiety or probably the same reason why i feel sick at the idea of tequila or the taste of plain leaf Kratom and everything else that I have vomited from a few times before. Is the memory or something, your brain recognizing something it now considers poison due to experience. I have always been interested in the exact mechanism for this reaction actually.

It probably doesn't help that the media slams the idea of intravenously using drugs. People see the junkies on the streets with needles, and that's the image that's burned in there heads. Is socially "misfit" among society even though its the safest ways to administer the drug.

Maybe something like that got to ya before and made things a little harder to put together.

It's a shame because, given a completely different sociological context, intravenous administration could be seen as and possibly is the most accurate and possibly the safest way to administer many drugs.

Edit for the dude below - i forgot the KEY idea there, which is bolded now, to speak to the social aspect.. agreeing

^What are you talking about? Intravenous drug use is safe if the drug you're using is formulated for intravenous use, but other than that it's not safe at all. Street drugs 'can be' relatively harmless (but rarely are) if they are mostly pure and free of nasty cutting agents. But IV'ing pills directly damages veins, and binders/fillers such as talc build up in the lungs, which with habitual adminstration will lead to pulmonary edema.

The anticipation of using can often be overwhelming, and cause a flood of "fight or flight" neurotransmitters which can cause nausea, excitement, nervousness, etc.

Yes. Puking before/while making your shot is a pretty common thing. Sometimes it happens because you're in withdrawal, and just the smell/sight of the dope and excitement knowing you're about to get relief, will make you throw up. It can still happen that way without being in withdrawal though for non-psychially dependent people too.

By the way, please edit your post and remove the "SWIM". I'm surprised you've been a member since 09', have 30 posts, and don't know that we don't ever do that here. Just use I..

If you never read the BLUA check it out now for more info.

At the end of my last coke/amphetamine spree I would vomit into my toilet right after my dealer left my front door and i was staring at my bag.

This is your mind creating a physical response to what you are doing to yourself. Think of it.

Fucked up, isn't it?

When I was physically dependent on heroin I would get nausea and an urge to defecate right as I was prepping my shot, it's like the withdrawal was kicking into overdrive and I kind of felt like my body somehow knew it would be it's last chance to eliminate waste before the heroin kicked in and constipated me, if that makes any sense. I'm sure anxiety and excitement could play a role in these kinds of reactions as well. So if you are physically dependent on it it could be something to do with that.

Otherwise another possibility is if Dilaudid normally makes you nauseous that your brain has been conditioned to associate it with nausea, even before you actually use it.

Ha! That's been happening to me recently as well, not the nausea but i suddenly have to piss like crazy and definitely feel a deep rumble in my belly while prepping. When i used to smoke H i would feel nauseas before inhaling, but other than that the only thing that makes me consistently nauseated just to look at is coke. Seriously, i'm throwing up before i even put the bill to my nose. One of the main reasons i don't do blow anymore, no one wants to blow lines with a guy who's fucking yakking everywhere every 2 minutes haha.

I get this more with coke, like prepping the shot and feeling like puking...But definitely had this experience with hammer before. I think its more my bodys reaction to me seeing the drug and going "i want that so bad, i feel sick"...

Please tell me that you are joking. I want to see one article supporting your argument if you are not.
