Heroin Hand slightly swollen

Recently I shot into my right hand, usually this isn't an issue. I have no problem hitting the veins. I use the vein on top of my hand, there's no arteries there so I'm not worried about that.
But I hit the vein, shot up and now the injection site is slightly swollen. When I bend my hand back towards my wrist it feels weird, not quite numb but kinda like that feeling. Its slightly swollen and is a little sore to the touch.
I've never had this happen before, is it a missed shot possibly? I drew back and still got blood though so I don't understand.

I have had that happen before too. I wish I can tell you, hopefully someone here can. You get blood but it still seems like a miss. I used to just think my vein was shot and let it heal. I have no tracks I hop around and never let an area get bad.

Yeah definitely weird. Only happens on my right hand. I've used it 3 times to shoot and 2 of the 3 times it ends up being swollen. Always goes fine on my left hand and top of my feet.

I out a brace on it, its really sore. Hopefully its just from a missed shot.

You very well could have knicked a nerve. I've done that before and had the same exact symptoms you're describing. It also could be a missed shot, but I wouldbt think a missed shot would cause your hand to swell like you say it has. If it was an arterial hit you would have for sure known it was as those are incredibly unpleasant

Sounds like just just missed part of your shot. It only takes a drop or two sometimes to create swelling like that.

This seems most reasonable. It kinda hurt instantly on injection, like got sore. I know I didn't hit a nerve or artery because from what I'm reading you know if you hit a nerve or artery. But I'm not putting it past the fact I may have knicked a nerve.
My hand is still swollen, and it kinda hurts to move my fingers. Feels like I hurt a muscle in it or something. Any idea how long this will last? Should I put ice on it? I don't want to go to the ER but will if I need to. Just wanna see if this sorts itself out.

Best procedure after a missed shot, and from your description of pain on injection, that's almost definitely what it is, is to put a warm compress on first for about 20 minutes directly after the miss to speed up absorption, and then put on an ice pack to help with the swelling.

Usually, it goes down considerably after 24 hours. You probably don't need to go to the ER but if it gets worse, begins to get red,or shows other sign of infection, then you should see a doctor. But I doubt that will happen in this case.

Guess I have bad luck with that hand. I'm new to IVing, is it normal to get an insane itch around the injection site sometimes? Happens a lot when i use my foot.

the itch can be caused by your shot being to hot. it can create small red dots or irregular small red blotches around the injection site along with the feeling of heat/itch. or you tickled a small nerve/nerve fiber.

also good when you apply a warm compress or hot water to a miss is to massage and work out that area. which will help with the absorption and reduce the inflammation/pain too.

Yeah I almost always get these red blotches, but my water isn't hot at all.

I used to inject into my hands all the time and more often than not the same thing would happen to me. The veins in the hand can be quite narrow so its easy for some of the dose to miss. My hands used to puff up like crazy. Red blotches. And the injection site would always be hell itchy afterwards. I would just have a hot bath and soak them for a while. But too much hand injecting can mess with your circulation after a while if you do it too much eg pins and needles, so it makes sense to use different areas. One of my hands has a noticable scar.

Thats exactly what happened pretty much. Also, I just missed again somehow. I drew back got blood, injected and got a bubble on my foot. I didn't get any rush, but 5 minutes later it ht mew. Site is slightly red, still have a 1 inch in diameter bubble on the vein. Doesn't hurt.

I think I'm done IVing, I went 2 weeks without a problem and 2 days in a row now I'm having issues. Even when I pull back to register that I'm in the vein. Maybe I need a longer needle though.

i think you have a good idea with giving it a brake for a while. take some time and do some research on IV care, HR, and good techniques. you should really re-register your shot half way through or at any point you feel like you might of slipped out.

there is good information here that will help you a great deal. there is a link on that site where you can download all the info in pdf of the page that is listed here.

take your time.

what the fuck did you bang...amp, llello(cocaine), heroin, seems like coke or H to meh...anyways..time heal.MOST wounds...

Hand swelling is working itself out. Used a new rig today and had a friend do it for me. We used the vein in the crook of my elbow and all went well.

As a point of technique, make sure you are applying pressure only to the plunger of the syringe whilst holding the body of it absolutely stationary. Working with those small veins, it's easy to punch through the vein wall if there is any movement at all. If you are using a belt or whatnot, make sure to release it before shooting or the added pressure from the shot can cause those fragile veins to leak/burst, causing the same sort of problems you're having.
