Hey Everyone...
A buddy of mine is a newbie grower. He just started sprouting seeds yesterday and he has the lights on 24 hours a day...

question 1. When should he change the cycle to 18/6?
question 2. How long should it be on an 18/6 cycle?
question 3. When will he know when its time to change to 12/12?

Basically he needs a 'newbie grow calender' to support him thru the cycles. How many weeks on 18/6 then how many weeks 12/12. Any supportive info would be fuckin awesome.
THAAANX!

18/6 is an alternative schedule to 24 hour light if you want to safe electricity, but for best results just go with the always-on method. As for a calandar, just look at the plants and switch them over to a 12/12 cycle when they are big enough, at least a foot tall. The plant will grow as long as the roots have space in the container. The bigger the plant gets the more bud you will harvest in the end. Consider that your plant will likely double in size durring flowering if your container is big enough to support the large root base.

Of course, hydro is a whole nother story, but the only people I know who use soiless medium pretty much treat them the same as their soil plants. My understanding is that the plants can be forced to grow larger out of a smaller root base with hydro, but the end result is always inferior to organic soil grown.
