This might be a long shot but this is a big forum and so I figured there has to be some glassblowers on here. I have a good opportunity to start working in this shop with some cool guys, and was just wondering about some torches. I can get a used Carlisle CC for around 250 I think, which is a crazy deal but I haven't seen the torch and was wondering how durable they are, although they have a good reputation.
Also, I was thinking about getting a brand new GTT Cricket or even a Scorpion so I could save money on oxygen with the oxy generators, but I was wondering how those run compared to a regular torch using liquid oxy, and if it'd be economical for me. The dudes at the shop all gave me varied opinions on what to do, how they got started and whatnot, but I'd like to hear from more people, and any advice anyone has. Also, post up your work if you torch or work soft glass with furnaces.
