months ago i noted a subtle time dilation after starting to take a ginkgo/brahmi supplement to enhance my concentration and memory. i thought it was the brahmi, but this week i began on some ginkgo biloba only supplement and found the same thing.

it's not like strong psychedelics where light reduces and sounds distort, but i find time simply going past way more slowly than usual. days seem longer and weeks aren't flashing by as they normally do.

i suppose my enhanced memory and concentration is also enhancing my general awareness.

anyone else notice this effect?

It's REALLY subtle. Things feel normal, but days and weeks seem longer.

just started on an executive stress/focus supp. which contains ginkgo and i'm finding the exact same effect again.

so, three different sources of ginkgo. same effect.

this is annoying when i'm ahead of my work and not flat out busy. today seems like it's stretching over a whole week. it's why i'm posting a little more today.

but then later on when i get home and work on my uni assignment, it'll be a blessing.

pretty much right away. 2-3 days at most.

not even on a high dose. the recommended is 1-2/day. i've been on 1 each morning.

i was thinking the same thing, my multivitamin has gingko in it and ever since i started taking it, it seems like the days have been going by slower.

I think it's active ingredient is a GABA-(A?) antagonist. Alcohol is a GABA agonist. I find time flys by when I'm on alcohol or benzos, so I'd expect the opposite for a GABA antagonist.

this is probably the best answer IMO

Not only do the days seem longer for me, they actually are longer since I sleep a lot less each night if I'm on ginko supplements.
Normally it's 8-9hours and with ginko I usually sleep 5-6 and feel rested. This effect might not be just the ginko though since I take it along with ginseng.

Do you/anyone think there might be negative interactions if someone takes benzos (alpratzolam, temazepam) regularly with gingko?

man, i cut my ginkgo a few months back when my wife and son went overseas as the time felt torturous. i'm flying over there on sunday so thought i'd start again, and on my second day, today, i looked at the time at 10:30 and thought "wtf, i thought it'd be lunch by now".

day was epic long, about an hour or two ago i was thinking it had already felt like a week.

I just saw this, THANK YOU! I didn't like feeling chemically special. ;)

Thanks for the update L2R, I may have to get a new source of ginkgo to see if the effects work on me. My current source doesnt seem to be doing much noticeable at all.
Might I ask what dose you are taking?

just 2000mg

just one of these with breakfast.

i had the same effect from various sources, as mentioned in this thread. also note i find the effects of piracetam very noticeable too. maybe i'm just more sensitive to such things than usual.

Makes sense . There's a study showing that gingko increases REM sleep and makes it more efficient .

They did tests that showed people going into deep REM faster with gingko.

I guess that's how it helps ur memory ? Cause REM sleep is where ur memories are formed at the end of the day

Dunno about time dilation but i've had some amazing clarity of thought & very vivid dreams when taking this in the past (3 years ago).

YES! I just bought today ginko biloba downed 1 beer and smoked a joint and was just surfing around 9gag.. I thahought must have been an hour gsurfing 9ga and was just 12 mn lol Nice find, would never atributted that time dilation to ginko alone.

here at the inlaws' place in china, they have a basket full of fresh ginkgo, picked straight from the tree. i'ma see if there is a difference.

Sorry to jump into your thread with an abstract idea, but perhaps gingko could aid in benzodiazepine tolerance/addiction?
