I am under the impression that the reason why I am not getting good effects from my amphetamine usage is due to my lack of sleep, which is effecting my serotonin production. When you take amphetamines in a recreation sense and stay up for the night and continue dosing the amphetamines throughout the whole time, at about roughly 30 hours in you can keep dosing the amphetamine and it will produce minimal effect. I believe the reason this is occurring is because due to my lack of sleep I am preventing melatonin from being released in my brain and creating more serotonin so going without sleep leaves me with no serotonin to feel good off of from the amphetamines. Does this make sense? In order to get the most out of the amphetamines you need to sleep at least a little bit in between usages.

No you most likely have a tolerance. You definitely need sleep when using amphetamine but unless you are talking about methamphetamine then serotonin is not at play here. Tolerance to amphetamine rises quickly, diminishing recreational effects and causing people to assume they aren't working when in fact, they are. They lose euphoria very fast. Eat sleep and hydrate, exercise when not on amps. All the advice I can give you. Serotonin is not really effected from normal amphetamine. It's negligible.

Agreed, i don't think Serotonin is a factor here. In the beginning of the year I would very much enjoy 4 day meth binges while on SSRI''s which ensured none of the Serotonin effects of meth could take effect in theory. Additionally I would feel great after the Bringe and decent amounts of sleep.

I could easily go 96 hours on meth straight and enjoy every second of it without sensing the inability to get high and feel good or get any negative effect at all during this time frame (mentally at least..). Obviously I would require increased and more frequent dosages due to short term tolerance but could still attain the desired result for about 4 days. After that things deteriorate drastically and its no longer worth it in my opinion.. I know some others hit this point far quicker so i might be lucky in this regard...

Halfway through this year I stopped all SSRI use and my enjoyment and the effect of meth afterwards has not changed an inch. I do not think the Serotonin related effect of meth has a noticeable effect on the high at all or any other factors in my experience, besides the below caveat...

I will say however that after SSRI use ended the negative effects of meth for a few days afterwards are more pronounced now that Serotonin seems to be allowed to take effect. These days i cant get through more then a 2 day binge before things go downhill and after coming down and resting the days afterwards suck, similar to how i felt after heavy MDMA usage back in the day. I dont think any other factors are involved as i went two years with excellent weekend meth use on SSRI's and this change only occurred after stopping SSRI's without any other change in my usage.

Personally i think the Serotonin effect of meth is useless if not detrimental and meth works just as well and better in terms of the high and after effects if this can be blocked. But this may just be because im sensitive to SRI effects due to heavy abuse when younger...

its just tolerance man, lay off em for awhile and you'll get that great high back you remember :D

Like it's been said, amps have a very small affect on serotonin levels. They affect mainly dopamine as amps are both DRI's (Dopamine reuptake inhibiter) and DRA's (dopamine releasing agent). Once the dopamine gets depleted from binging, you lose the "magic" (its the main neurochemical involved in learning, focus, euphoria etc). The farther you space out your uses, the better effect they will have due to brain neurochemicals being replenished through proper diet and sleep.

Sleep is very important because that is when the body actually repairs itself
