Whenever I take Xanax, I either take very little and I don't feel anything except this very "heavy" feeling and it makes me tired, not really a "high". however, when I seem to take too much(I'd say about 2mg) I black out and don't remember anything. How do people enjoy this?! Am I doing something wrong? I've read once that benzos are good highs for people under a lot of stress but I'm under a TON of stress. If someone can provide some input, I'd appreciate it a lot! :)

Sorry man but if just 2mg of xanax is making you pass out then you have an extremely low tolerance to them right now. Do not go and take any more than that. You would be endangering yourself. Be careful, and good luck.

Edit: and definitely don't drink alcohol while taking these either.

People that report a high from strong short acting benzos' are not "stressed out" to begin with...stressed/anxious feelings just get relief (balanced out-steadied nerves)
It's kind of like taking opiates for a broken ankle, their going to notice less of a high, but alot of pain relief, compared to the person taking them for recreation.

Ofcourse not. I think you might have misunderstood what I was saying. I what was saying is, I read that Xanax can be more pleasurable to people under a lot of stress in their daily lives and they take it to relax, the problem with that is I'm also under a lot of stress in my daily life and I'm not experiencing any sort of high from xanax, just the usual a little bit of anxiety and tiredness.

Not "more pleasurable"- more like "more productive"...

Xanax is supposed to relieve stress. It wasn't designed to get you high - so it sounds like it's doing its job for you, like you are doing everything right, not wrong. If 2 mg cause you to black out, why waste that extra milligram when you could save it and use it for when you are really stressed? All you will accomplish with taking more is increasing your tolerance, causing you to need higher dosages to relieve your stress. I was on xanax for several years, and it's a tough ride to get off.

I agree with the above poster - do not mix with alcohol!

I have the same problem except i have only taken way too much and blacked out and not taken any more than 3mg and have never gotten high from xanax. Should i be able to if I take like 6+mgs?

DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 6mg of Xanax. Ever. If you need 6mg to feel "high" then you have a very high tolerance and need to chill out on the xanax for a while.

Basically, benzos are a shitty high. I only know a few people who find them enjoyable. Like someone else said, they are therapeutic drugs, designed to reduce anxiety and panic disorder, not to get you high. If you are really stressed, they will likely just make you feel better, which can be a little like "getting high" but really isn't the same.

if you have really bad anxiety then it certainly feels amazing to be calm and relaxed. You can get really fucked up on benzos too, to the point you can't walk or talk properly, but it's not euphoric and you'll be lucky to remember half of what happened anyway.

Do not take 6mg, you won't remember a thing.

Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. I take xanax for anxiety and it works great, calms me down. I also take it occassionally to sleep (work shift work). I enjoy recreational use of drugs occassionally but not this one. I'd compare it to a boring drunk feeling. Just get tired and relaxed then wake up feeling drowsy. The effects you described are all youre going to get out of it, taking more won't give you some "amazing" high so don't try.
.

the first few times ive taken it were best in terms of getting high and it was probably from 1mg to 2 mgs. i felt relaxed, completely calm and able to express anything i felt like expressing. on top of that my muscles felt like jello, it was hard to walk and talk. it was a pretty enjoyable experience. but after about a dozen times and upp until this day no matter if i take 1mg or 4mgs or even 6 i only get the relaxed carefree feeling. no physical/muscular effects at all.

if you use xanax pretty irregularly, than you should be able to feel doses of .5 mg at least. Often people expect Xanax to be a very noticeable high (which it isn't), and so they end up taking way more than necessairy and blacking out, all the while, thinkin they are not intoxicated. IMO, by itself Xanax has little recreational value. But when mixed with buprenorphine, I find the combination very euphoric, though it should be noted: mixing benzo's and other CNS depressants is dangerous, and increases the chance of overdose by a lot.

I happen to know a few people like this.

They claim they take the benzo's (sometimes doses higher than 6 mg xanax or the equivalent)because they produce a feeling similar to being drunk but without the unwanted side effects of alcohol (no hangover, no smelling like alcohol in case of contact with LEO being the two big ones).

In fact instead of a hangover they feel an afterglow the next morning and they always smoke cannabis to intensify these effects. No anxiety whatsoever and feeling like nothing in the world matters except what you are experiencing at that moment is a pretty amazing feeling.

The hard part about using benzo's in this fashion (abusing them to get high) is to find your sweet spot. Every benzo you come across is going to vary in potency so that is alot of different doses to figure out (converters can help with this but there is still some experimentation necessary). Don't mix them with other CNS depressants or you can die.

Just as is the case with all things in life taking benzo's in moderation is key. You don't want to end up addicted or make a fool of yourself, get arrested, or hurt somebody else as a result of your usage.

You also run a much greater risk of seizure, if you binge on high dosages, even for just a few days.
If you want to get a cleaner from of alchohol-like intoxication, GHB and GBL are much better options, though they too are addictive, but you can get the desired effects without having to take an unusually high dosage and blacking out (not to say that black outs are impossible with GHB, but I found that it happened a lot less than with benzodiazepine's)

Just take 1mg at the most every now and then and you should have an enjoyable and rememberable experience. However, benzos lost their magic almost immediately for me, so use infrequently.

I don't understand why some people love benzos, for me there is no euphoria and it just makes me sleepy...that's usually it. I only use them for comedowns from stims.

What could you be doing wrong? Swallowing a pill is not rocket science..

Xanax is a downer.. don't expect anything else. It does releive stress IMO but by no means provides significant euphoria or anything.

Captain H. had a good suggestion to keep it under 1mg. I think he is right about that ESPECIALLY if you take it regularly to get high or whatever. Once you start takign big doses your tolerance shoots up and they don;t really seem to work. Ask anyone whos a benzo addict..they could swallow like 10 bars and it won't do jack shit besides maybe help them sleep. I think the less is more thing applies to Xanax just as much as it does bupe.. it looses it's magic if you over do it dose wise
