Just for anyone tempted to think that if you took acid "back in the day" you must know something about it, here's George Clinton of P-funk telling a few urban myths he's swallowed:

Everyone was on acid – the audience, everyone – so it didn't matter. Acid ain't the same as before anyway. It's full of poison now that money and corporations are involved. I never had a bad trip on the acid in the 60s, only when they started putting angel dust and shit in it. Even street drugs are done by pharmaceutical companies now. I wouldn't trust no drugs these days.

Laughed just a little bit too hard for an office environment at the quote you've put in there....no way I'm risking reading whatever's contained in the link LOL

Ha that's good, love his opinion on Miley Cyrus:
"Her mind got free, and her ass got twerkin'"

I don't know who is purporting that George Clinton of all people knows anything about psychedelic drugs just because he took them "back in the day", but this article and the quote in the OP frankly do not surprise me one bit.

He isn't too far gone. NBomes and other shit being passed off as acid to unsuspecting kids, they may as well be mixing it with pcp.

I don't think blatantly proliferating misinformation is the same as the unscrupulous misrepresentation of psychedelics. The NBOMe series has seen its own set of problems, but most of that is either the aforementioned misrepresentation of the drug as something else, or individuals taking far more than is necessary usually due to lack of education or sheer recklessness. I don't find mythology surrounding laced drugs to be very comparable to that at all.

That's the problem, take too much lsd and you may loose your shit, but you won't suffer the dangerous cardiovascular issues that the Nbomes inflict

something makes me think george clinton and his crew were not the most well-read psychonauts. i dont think thats the funky way.

^ Iv'e known people that have done lsd and mdma over 100 times yet still believe lsd makes your brain bleed and heroin/mescaline laced e pill nonsense. Just simply eating hand fulls of psychedelics on a regular basis isn't going to make you an expert on them but if you were gonna dismiss every great musician because of their lack on knowledge on basic facts of the drugs they use/used then there would be very few left to listen too. They didn't have erowid or bluelight back then. I doubt your average hippy was going to the library to check out books on psychedelics, and got most of their info from other users just as clueless as them.

Perhaps it's an indication of just how clueless most acid users are - presumably nobody in the hundreds of people he knows has got a fucking clue either.

Sounds like a folkloric explanation for set/setting issues people develop as they age. Many see the scene as having lost its purity/innocence, leading to the supply of ethereal Good Drugs to be corrupted. They never consider that their own loss of youthful naivete/optimism could take away their ability to trip with impunity. A large chunk of trippers want to treat psychedelics like a button that can endlessly reproduce the same experience, but no drug can offer that, nor anything else under the sun. I hope by viewing them as therapeutic tools that rely on what's in me, that I can avoid this scenario, and enjoy a long term (respectfully infrequent) relationship with these chemicals, and never have to look back on them as something lost.

Learning enough to know that George's statement is ridiculous means little, it's that all y'all here take what you learn and use it to better your tripping/living habits that means something.

Or maybe its about how fucked off George was the whole way through a tedious interview.

Clinton knows more about drugs than you can dream of Mr Ismene.

Word of mouth has to do so much damage to harm reduction.
junkies cook in shots people thinking quad stack e pills means anything people thinking ecstasy is a drug itself lol
can't hate people for being misinformed and not seeking knowledge.

I find it extremely sad most people now a days that talk about all there acid trips and hownit changed there lives have never really had lsd. Same goes for ravers that have never had mdma.

Idk who this guy is tho so I know my post is off topic just agreed with what phent j posted.

If he thinks PCP is being put into his blotter the man is a fucking bullroot. He could write everything he knows about drugs on the back of a postage stamp and still have room for the Gettysburg address.

I'm not denying the beauty of Maggotbrain btw.

Digging how Clinton calls Eminem a funky white motherfucker out of nowhere in the interview...whatever Clinton knows or doesn't know about drugs, it's all good considering how much of a legend he is. He made some of the objectively best funk music in a decade (70's) that was famous for it. At least Clinton kept it together through the years, unlike a lot of acts from his time...James Brown, Sly Stone (he's just a fragile shell of what he used to be), etc.
