Several years ago, after using brand Adderall XR with huge success, my insurance started covering only the generic. I got my prescription filled with mixed amphetamine salts (or something close to that) and it was HORRIBLE compared to brand Adderall XR. My doctor eventually switched me to generic dexedrine spansules which were pretty effective but extremely difficult to find. Last month, my doctor switched me back to Adderall XR because of the availability issues with dexedrine and I filled my script with the brand name Adderall XR 10mg, which was $100. I have felt great the past month, with zero side effects. Tomorrow I am due for a refill and cannot afford the $100 for brand. Generics are only $10. My question is, have the generics gotten any better over the past few years, or are they still going to be the same crappy, ineffective, side-effect filled, sleeping pills they were a few years ago? I'm worried about refilling the script with generics if they're going to be worthless again. Thanks for your help.

Generic medications are required by law to be equivalent to the formulations they replace. And it's not like time released amphetamine is some sort of closely guarded trade secret that's easy to fuck up... the formulation's been around since the 1950s.

If the generics suck it's all in your head.

Anyway we don't allow generic versus brand discussion 'cause this is the answer that matters and everything else is totally subjective.
