Gabapentin is a strange drug. Ive been taking it for epilepsy for almost a year now, but im a dope fiend so ive always abused them or used them as an opioid withdrawal aid when I use my stash up.
Once staggering seems to lose effectiveness, those 8 gram doses will have effect for only a day or two. At least thats the case with me.
My first few scripts I would just take huge doses everyday until I ran out, and although opioid w/d is much worse, gaba's is no walk in the park.
Through trial and error I found a dosing schedule that works pretty well for me, but it requires a little self control to keep tolerance low.
keep in mind this schedule was started after a month long break so from the start tolerance was nil.
Day 1: stagger 400mg every 15 min. Max dose- 2000mg
Day 2: stagger 400mg every 15 min. Max dose 3200mg
Day 3: stagger 400mg every 15 min. Max dose 3200mg
now here is where self control plays a part.
After dosing for 3 days, I take AT LEAST a 3 day break. If I stick to this schedule I barely ever notice a diminish in effect. Gabapentin is different than most drugs in that tolerance to effects builds rapidly, but said tolerance also goes away remarkably quickly.
I really hope this helps you. I regard gabapentin as a very useful substance as it has done wonders for my emotional stability and self esteem, although it was prescribed for my epilepsy.
