I tried taking around 900 - 1200 mg cumulative, staggering the doses (150 mg Gralise every 45 min) and waited to no avail. I figure it prob just doesn't work for some (tramadol for ex) but I have a hunch if I just take it all at once it would work better. Can anybody confirm the sketchy effectiveness of this drug? Its recreational potential seems well documented on interwebs and it sucks to see it have ZERO effect on me whatsoever.

It definately alters you're perception, but whether it's recreational is really a matter of taste. Gabapentin fucks me up, but I hate the way it makes me feel. It works wonders for withdrawal though.

I had to stop taking Neurontin after the 2nd day.
Apparently I was a complete prick to everyone, lost my job and don't remember anything from those 2 days or the 2 days after.
This was only 300mg I believe

Even though I've been told they're the same, brand name Neurontin fucked me up like nothing else (even at the lowish 300mg doese). It was like being wasted on Ambien. Tolerance built up within a matter of days, and the effects became less and less intense until almost vanishing completely (but then I was taking 4000-5000mgs and only barely feeling it, although the negative side effect at this high dose became more pronounced).
Now, I've also taken generic GABA. The couple times I experimented with GABA generic nothing much happened. Smoking weed was a little new and interesting, I might have slept a little better given that it kinda felt like it was relaxing my body/muscles, but I didn't really consider GABA a recreational high (this was at 900-3000mgs).
That is, until the last time I took it, only having consumed like 600-900mgs, I actually got a legit buzz from it. At this time I was and had been sober and clean from all drugs and booze for a while, so maybe my system was more sensative (before I had been also using opioids, benzos, weed, drink, etc. etc.).
Thus, in my opinion, I don't really know. Seems like brand might have something to do with how recreational the experience will be. Furthermore, as I said, although people have told me they're the same thing, the high from brand name Neurontin and generic GABA felt very different, although both within the realm of the more mild CNS depressants/sedatives/tranqualizers/anxiolytics (i.e. something like kava).
Bottom line: Don't expect it to blow you away. It just isn't that powerful or mind altering of a drug. Nonetheless, although I am not included in this group, some certainly do enjoy it as a rather mild mind altering chill out sort of drug.

I weigh 115 Lbs. and am 6"2 and every 15 minutes I take upwards toward 6000-6900mg (600mg 1200 every 15 min.)of Gabapentin to get an almost Cannabis-like buzz and it even makes my eyes red! lol! with very mild hallucinations like seeing translucent ripples and if I focus on an object, it morphs and shifts very lightly. All I can say is just take 2 pills every 15-20 minutes and when you start to feel the buzz, stop because you still have inactive Gabapentin ready to cross the blood-brain-barrier and get you higher
So yeah do 15-20 minute increments and don't stop until you feel a mild effect and then you will have a "true" Gabapentin high. Also, only do it once or twice a month because tolerance builds the second you use it so if you used it now, you won't feel it tomorrow because it saturates inside of you
And I agree but disagree with the last line of toothpastedog's post. I've done Weed, Coke, Gabapentin, damn near every benzo and opiate and i'm actually typing this while blown off Hydrocodone, Carisoprodol (Soma), and a few bowls of chronic by myself
