Gabapentin doseage for higher tolerance

Hey! I’ve been stalking for awhile, but first post. I’ve been on tramadol for 5yrs. 50mg qid is what’s prescribed but I usually run out and take norco til next refill. I have MS and in constant pain which has caused me to become addicted. I’m really open about it. I have some gabapentin 300 mg and was wondering with my tolerance, what’s a good dose to relax, help the pain and hopefully get some sleep. I usually take 5 tram 3xs a day or alternate with lortab/norco 10s every 4 hours. I appreciate any help and I’m glad to have a spot to get answers
 
I'm of no help as I don't have any experience with gabapentin but just wanna say welcome to bluelight & I'm sure someone with knowledge on the subject will be along to give u advice
 
Actually what I can say is u won't have any tolerance at all to the gabapentin as its a gabaergic drug & obv tramadol & norco are opioids - completely different class of drug. But as for starting dose of gabapentin I dunno so will leave that up to someone who does know
 
300mg every 45 min until you reach the desire effect, usually 900-1500mg a day. It's better to stack pills like that and not take them more than 1 at a time cause your body csn only absorb 300mg every 45-60 min or so. Although, if you can get lyrica instead of gabapentin would be better. It's more potent and the absorption is better, overall the effects are much better too.

You say "with my tolerance" but it sounds like you haven't taken Gabapentin before? You know it's not an opioid, right?

EDIT: That was not intended to come off as condescending, btw, I'm genuinely making sure you know, for the sake of harm reduction.

A little late but... If you are taking the gabapentin for the first time you are going to want to taper to effect. This can be done by starting with 300 mg by mouth on day one, then increasing to 300 mg twice daily, then 300 mg three times daily. From here you can continue to increase your dose while taking it at the three separate intervals until you find pain relief. Medical evidence suggests no additional benefit past 1.8 g daily. I am unsure of exactly how many your doc is prescribing. If you do decide to start taking the gabapentin regularly which is expected medically speaking, and decide to discontinue. Make sure you slowly taper down from whatever dose you are taking over the course of a week or so.
