Horizant, the brand for gabapentin enacarbil, was created because gabapentin itself is poorly absorbed. Anyone who has tried it knows it takes two hours to kick in. Gabapentin isn't all that recreational, but pregabalin is thought of as being far more so, seemingly simply because of pharmacokinetics.
Has anyone here tried Horizant? It seems to me that it would probably kick in a lot quicker, even as a prodrug.
Hopefully it doesn't last as long, either. Since gabapentin is absorbed so strangely, I wonder if some of its duration is the result of it just slowly trickling in through transporters in the intestines, takes forever to kick in because it has to make it to the intestine first, then slowly trickles in over 9 hours or whatever it takes to wear off.
Is it enjoyable compared to lyrica?
