Future of the Mexican Drug war.

I keep seeing in the news bodies piling high every day.

Where do you think Mexico will be in the next 10 yrs?

President Felipe Caldron turned a metaphor for war, into a real war.

I think mexico will be the tipping point the in war on drugs. 10 yrs from now, it will become a Narco state. The children growing up will be acustomed to violence, and death. Drug trafficing will become far more socially accepted.

When Mexico becomes the new wild west, a true narco state. I think it will force the Federal goverment to seriously reconsider the war on drugs, with a large drug producing country so close to the USA, along with massive migration from mexico, it will become all but impossible to stop the flow of drugs.

This is the only positive thing I see coming out of the current carnage, it will cause the USA and the world to rethink drug policy.

Any opinions?
 
Probably not too far off if these trends continue. The Mexican state will become weaker over the coming years because it's revenue is heavily dependent (like 40 percent) on oil it's state-owned energy monopoly Pemex extracts out of the Gulf. Many of those reservoirs are past their maturity or are in decline already. A lot of the manufacturing trade with the US which buoyed Mexico's economy has left for China or elsewhere. There are a lot of headwinds the country faces. A lot of the money and power in the country is being increasingly held by the cartels. In the end, the only thing that really sustains this is drug prohibition itself, so perhaps it will have to go. The only other alternative is a massive military mobilization by the US there, which would probably be yet another blood and treasure leeching fiasco. It will be interesting to watch whatever happens play out over the coming years.

There has been violence and drug production in Mexico for decades, but only since Calderon started his stupid war has there been 30,000+ people killed, many of them civilains, american tourists, children, etc..They need to say fuck it in Mexico, it's been a majotiy narco-state for decades anyway, before they let the cartels kinda do their thing and 30,000+ people were not dead in a few years...maybe a 1,000 people in 10 years before Calderon and the cartel wars, and those were mostly rival cartels and not innocent small kids playing or tourists..I used to go to Mexico alot in the 90's ,and even the early 2000's ,but know its not safe anywhere really even for a local..shame what Calderon,at the uS governments request and funds has done to cause such death...

mexico is already a narco state, children are already accustomed to violence and death.

in 10 years i think the move to make all drugs regulated will be well underway, if not by view of general public then in government. the US are simply fed up with how the government treats drugs and drug offenders, in due time we will be puting more and more pressure on the government to revamp laws. so much pressure that, i predict, we will be on the verge of some serious riots and/or uprisings and the government will more or less be forced to clamp down on mexico and revamp drug laws etc.
 
a professor from costa rica recently gave a lecture at the university where i work about this. he was n favor of legalizing all drugs.
 
The 60s was the beginning of it all. It seemed like a blast living back then, but I think they took the pendulum too far. ppl where fucked up all the time, and it couldnt have lasted. I think society needs to find a balance btw getting shit done, ie build roads, cars, houses, raise kids ect... And get to have some time where we take a vacation from reality, the sooner we find this balance the better. I just think mexico will become a cataylist for change. To really shove in the faces, of the people in power, that this isnt working.
 
A group will achieve dominance through cooperation with government/police and peace will ensue so that business can resume and people can get paid.
