I've had viral meningitis when I was 15. YOU'D KNOW by now if you had meningitis, it hits with the quickness and cripples you in hours to the point where you loose feeling in your legs, you can't stop puking, your brain feels like it's going to squirt out your ears, and you're pretty much convinced you're going to die, which actually doesn't sound all too bad when under this virus. it is serious business and also extremely contagious.
Having said that, I ate some 'bad' shrooms in the past, didn't trip at all from an 8th of them however started to get very strange feelings in my arms and legs. No puking, no headache, just a weird feeling in my extremities. I took no chances though, I immediately called my doctor and scheduled an emergency appointment, told him what I had done, and he commended me several times for coming to him, didn't get me in trouble, didn't call the cops, didn't flag me as a drug abuser, didn't do anything repercussive, he can't, he's not allowed to. My doc gave me a blood test and asked a bunch of questions, ran some physical tests on my body, reflexes, tested my eyes and senses, and also had me come back in a few days later for another blood test so he could compare the two tests and see if anything had manifested itself in my blood stream. Tests came back clean and he sent me on my way, with nothing more than a "be more careful, man". Your doctor is required by law to be confidential about anything you tell them, even if it is incriminating. It's their job to help you, not get you in trouble, and they will be glad to help you, so if you're worried about that, don't be.
My doc knows almost everything about my drug use and history, he knows I smoke weed all the time, he knows I've taken MDMA, cocaine, others, he even was actually quite amused when I told him about pod tea. This is your doctor, and it's your LIFE, don't take stupid chances just for the sake of keeping secrets.
