"Dear Friends,

It's time to "leggo" those Eggo's... put the Keebler elves back on the shelves... say nay to Special K... and give Froot Loops the boot!!!

Marijuana activists nationwide today began a coordinated boycott of all Kellogg Co. products, after the cereal and snack maker chose to drop their sponsorship of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps over a photo that was made public last week, apparently showing the 8-time gold medal winner partaking of the herb at a party. (For more on the backstory, visit http://blogs.reuters.com/mediafile/2009/02/06/kellogg-drops-phelps-after-photos/
or just Google "Kellogg drops Phelps".)

Apparently, Kellogg believes it's okay to promote high-sugar, high-preservative products to kids--but not okay to let those same kids know that the "stoner as slacker" Drug War fallacy is just that--a LIE. And one that is swiftly crumbling.

Kellogg may not be counting on the fact that more U.S. citizens have smoked marijuana--and lived to tell about it--than not. They may not understand what most clear-minded individuals, pot enthusiasts or not, DO understand--that this herb is far safer than alcohol, and that censuring users means censuring hundreds of thousands of normal, active, healthy, productive citizens. Kellogg DOES count on their bottom line, however, and that means we can show our displeasure in a very meaningful way: BOYCOTT ALL KELLOGG PRODUCTS. Here's how:

1. Let Kellogg know you will no longer purchase ANY of their products, and make it clear that this is entirely because of how they chose to handle the Phelps case. Here's how to contact them:

Cheers and thanks for all the good work you do, "
becky wrote this (not me)

they took away his contract simply because he was holding a bong, whos to say what was in it first of all (ex. salvia? lol) and second the bong didnt even have smoke in it. hes a goddamn swimmer not a pilot or something. (a goddamn mermaid if you ask me) =D

whats your opinion? and hope this helps some of you.

This is GRREAAT. I shot some disrespect 2 that operator bitch like it was my job, w00t. Philps pic may actually do more good then harm. Huuu-ahhh!

to be honest i don't think kellog's give a rats ass about weed. What it's about is public image, this guy was outed and shot down by the media when they got hold of these photos, therefore giving him bad public image. It just wouldn't of been profitable for them to continue sponsoring a "pothead" athlete when they want to promote a healthy living lifestyle.

i think the whole thing is a crock of shit anyway. Let the guy toke, who gives a shit about kellogs, i'm sure michael doesn't...

and that is ALOT of tasty munch to miss out on

just my take on shizz

see this is the way it should be done, not posting that disgustingly horribly worded petition, then locking the thread about the subj.
><
horrible horrible petition!
this however, though spoken with the vigor of a true Soviet :) i believe to be seen as a market backlash only, and that they will soon forget all about it.
Well worded on the sugar hypocrasy example :D

i agree

it also shows how outdated policy is, when legalization comes i bet phelps will tell these guys to go to hell if they want to responser, serves them right.

Who cares?
They have the right to sponsor or not sponsor whoever they want.
If you want to boycott kellogs, fine, but doing it because they dropped Phelps is stupid IMO.
Ditto im not gonna give up my lucky charms just cause im a stoner..... Thats like saying imma support nikes sweatshops cause they support stoners wooohooo!

edit: since lucky charms aint kellogs IM NOT GIVING UP MY FREAKING POP TARTS!

this the most retarded boycott i have ever heard of and makes marijuana users look like idiots in my opinion.

but i love waffels
and i hate having to actuly make them i want to open my feezer and put a few in toaster and be done with it.....
they are good when im high hahaha
but they are fucks for that i say give the man a break hes 23 and i know when i was 23(haha 2 years ago) i was smokin lots and most people i know were too
i dont think any one was really shocked at him smokin but what ever he makes more that any of us ever will

I've been sickened by the "apology." I don't really blame him, he's an athlete whose future depends on the arbitrary rules of ancient-minded and weak lawmakers. But I think this whole thing is bullshit. And fuck the narc who sold that photo. I don't eat any Kellogg's products anyway, but I'll be sure to talk it up with friends who might do so. Sorry, I cant think of any right now.

What a load of shit. The whole thing. He smoked some weed. What? In fact, if he wanted to fight it, which apparently he doesn't, who's to say that he wasn't smoking tobacco? Which is so much healthier for you than marijuana of course... *rolls eyes*.

The whole thing makes me sick. This incident could have been turned into a public service announcement for weed-smoking. I mean, perfect Olympic athlete smoking weed and breaking records, living a healthy, active life and doing it right, while occasionally smoking weed.

I haven't posted anything on this before because I've been so angry about it. It just makes me livid that this has turned into the regular "oh look, he's been a bad boy by partaking in ILLEGAL drugs. How horrible for the children." This was a good opportunity to show how weed doesn't affect your performance or health and instead, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon (including Michael Phelps) saying that weed is evil.

This incident could have been played so much different. I was actually a little surprised that it didn't go down as a positive message about weed. But then, the little optimistic part of my jaded self was wrong. It's nauseating. I can't believe that it's turned into what it has. Lies, lies, lies. Vile fucking bitches with their media-cock-sucking selves ensuring hteir own jobs by parroting the views of the equally self-serving cocksuckers in power. As Bill Hicks would say, "Suck Satan's Scaly Cock." You fucking lickspittle anal sores.

i boycotted the UK Kelloggs after i read an article that said they use human waste as the fertaliser to grow the corn or wheat or whatever...i have not missed it one bit...

shut the fuck up. tell me your making a bad joke?

I am going to try and boycott. But Damn that's everything I like to eat! FUCK I don't smoke pot anyway. I do think it should be legal or at least decriminalized. We waste to much $ and ruin to many of our young by placeing them in with real criminals, therefore turning them into crooks and worse. It's prohibition all over again.Didn't work then ,doesn't work now! It's so stupid!

"A controversial source of manure in some products is digested and processed human waste. These products are pathogen free, but may contain heavy metals. Two common products are Milorganite and Kellogg's. Most of the bagged manures, top soils, composts, etc. from large companies usually contain human waste if the source is not mentioned. Most of these factories are located near a sanitation plant and the "products" from the sanitation plant are sent by conveyor to the processing plant."
