From purple to...uhhhhhh...purple?

Let me preface my question by saying that I realize how subjective testing can be. By the same token, I now have a good bit of experience testing pills. Up to now, all the pills I've tested have had roughly the same reaction...purple to dark blue or black. Recently though, I picked up some pills, and although they get a fairly quick reaction, the reaction basically stays at purple. Granted, it goes from a lighter purple to a dark purple, but it never really does approach the blue/black stage that I'm used to seeing. The question is...has anybody noticed a correlation between an all purple reaction and a given pill's strength/quality (i.e. trippy, mongy, totally sucky etc.)? Many thanks.

Is it possible the colour started off more a red than purple? This would indicate a heroin related active agent in the pill (is this what most people refer to as smacky?)
Basically I just don't take them if they don't give the result I want... fussy but happy and 'safe'

Oh noooo... Here we go again, there is no heroin in xtc pills for many resons which I am not going to explain.
Anyway, your result is OK (indicating an xtc like substance).
Purple is purple.
Some go very dark purple, some stay a lighter purplish.
Could have something to do with the binding agent.

Has anyone tested d-propoxyphene? According to some journal references, it should give blackish purple color with marquis.

Oww Oww got my ass bit... oww stop it ... haha

Yes I know that heroin in E is by and large a myth (except maybe as a trace that would not be active and would probably be a contamination rather than intentional) due to the higher cost of heroin, etc.
Not sure why I answered that way, think I was being dumb... oh well

However the test kit I have does show that a Red to Purple and staying a distinctive reddy-purple indicates a heroin like substance, this is why I mentioned it.
Every good E I have tested has always gone purple then straight to black so maybe that was why I was wondering.
Sorry if I helped perpetuate the rumours.

I guess it is better than it being a myth than any pills around these days contain MDMA.... that would be a bummer. hehe

Well just to clear everything up, I think that I have conclusively found out why these particular pills tested as a lighter purple without going to black/blue/dark purple...THEY SUCK. Essentially, there wasn't enough MDMA in them to cause a dark color change. By the way, they're double stacked white no names with a split...save your money.

Agreed... I tested a crystal of pure MDMA, which turned Very Very dark purple (it looks black when its in a puddle)
most pills that don't really cut it (i.e. MDEA or low quantity MDMA) change to purple, but it never goes dark enough to look like black..

Aj, dextropropoxyphene is known as Depronal in Netherlands. It's an opioid analgesic structurally related to methadone. It has only quite mild analgesic activity.

I don't know if I agree with the statement about pills turning only purple being shit. I've tested 2 pills recently that only went purple and they were both very good quality rolls.

true, there has never been a reported case of heroin in pill in america ( i have heard of one report in cananda) but in defense of the gnome person ( i fergit the handle), there have been other opiates found in E, and they do have a distinct reaction. however, i dont know that reaction. it might be worth someone contacting dancesafe to find out.. in fact, i think i will.

Is it not very unlikely for pills to actually contain Heroin? Even if the "cook" isn't a person who is into the scene, why would they include an ingredient that is so expensive? Alot of the "cooks", if not all, are in it for the $$$$! And if the "cook" is a fellow raver, why would they want to leave us "smacked" out? I don't think they would. I think people should realise the logic and stop thinking they are taking Heroin - it is only a Heroin-like substance (perhaps 2CB?.

Nope, 2CB would go green, that's well documented....but, perhaps it was another opiate (other than Heroin?)....or Lysergic acid?... there are plenty of things close to the reaction of MDMA (but not close enough to a trained, experienced eye)..
