Heroin Frequency of use affect withdrawals symptoms?

I'm wondering if frequency of one's heroin use would create different degree of withdrawals.

I use about a bundle a day, typically. However I use that bundle in 2 shots, both within the course of an hour. I don't use again till about the same time the next day, give or take a few hours. So often times there is more than a 24 hr window since my last use. And by the time I use again I often don't have the beginning signs of withdrawal. Typically I won't start any withdrawal symptoms till the 30 hr mark.

Would this be different if I spread the useage of the bundle over the course of the day, so that every 6 hrs I did 3 bags?

Thoughts?

(Note this is all IV use.)

Yes, I believe it does. For example, I think that doing 5 bags everyday would result in worse withdrawals that doing 10 bags every other day.

If your body is used to opiates daily, it kinda reprograms itself to operate with those drugs in you. Once you stop, the body gets confused, and sick, as it adjusts to living without the opiates. Leaving a day in between may allow the body to not reprogram itself as much, if that makes any sense.

When you put it like this, then it makes sense. I mean of course using everyday would cause worse withdrawals.

I'm curious how bad my withdrawals will be. I'm constantly surprised that I don't have any withdrawals at the 24 hr mark. It seems almost unbelievable to me but I do get the typical symptoms, a few hours after that. They do come on lightly though.

Interesting. My first thought was that you want to minimize the maximize highs and that would require a more common lower dose. This is definitely the best way to go with respect to tolerance as your body will quickly adjust to be able to handle the maximum dose. However with your time-line and the half life of heroin, I agree with TommyBoy that spending time with no dope in your system will help prevent dependence.

So perhaps with heroin using a lot once a day is preferable than half that twice a day. The choice between a lot 3 times a day or half that 6 times a day I would lean towards 6 though.

I know this is going to be hard for everyone to believe, but I rarely experience any WD symptoms. And, I've been using on and off, for several years. I've used every day (sniff) for 6+ months and the most troubling of my symptoms was crankiness and no sleep. SO, just to let you know, I seem to have the same type of experience as you do with WD. The only difference is, I've never done that many at once. Wowza!

I've never done heroin before, but I used to IV OC's every day for about 6 months straight, and oddly enough my withdrawal symptoms were minimal - basically the same as yours. I was having trouble sleeping, I felt dizzy every now and then, and I was really cranky. Perhaps that's because OC's aren't as strong as heroin, though.

My personal preference is the strongest rushes possible so that's why I use my bundle so fast. Of course the 2nd half of the bundle isn't as strong as the first half. I lack the willpower to hold off the 2nd half. I do however seem to have the willpower to not run out and buy another bundle though.

Hmmmmm...funny how I work.

How long does it last you when you do 5? It sounds like a good time, but I'm so use to sprinlink it out during the day. But, it does sound nice... I guess WD'd vary depending on alot of things. I really can't explain, why mine are so minimal, and my gf goes through a horrific experience. I'm thankful, but wd or not, I have enormous cravings. So, I still struggle with that...

You're spending more time with less dope in your system, but you're also spending time with more at once in your system. So, the question is what causes more tolerance/dependence, peak levels or time on receptors? I don't know. Based on my personal experience all that matters is how much I've taken in a given amount of time (24 hrs), not how I spaced out the doses, at least if we're talking about long periods of use.

The spacing and dose size might be beneficial to someone that uses less frequently, though.

^I agree, I think it is cumulative regardless of how it is spaced out. The only time I think the timing would matter is if the half-life was short enough to allow for most of the drug to clear before dosing again. The least amount of drug in the body (after given time to wear off between doses) over the course of a period of use is equal to the level of addiction that I feel will develop. So, for example, the amount of a drug left kicking around in the morning time, assuming you're not in withdrawal, would be around the amount of drug that I feel the body is actually addicted to.

So the verdict for me is that I had very little withdrawal. On Thurs I took a moderate dose of Immodium, probably about 50 -60mgs to combat sudden withdrawal, but the rest of the weekend has been mostly pain free. A little bit of thermoregulation issues but no major withdrawal issues. Well and a little depression but for the most part this is the easiest withdrawal I've had. It makes me wonder if I should even pick up any when I get back to the NE..... knowing me I will.

Of course everyone has different body chemistry. 3 Months ago I had a pretty rough withdrawal but the only thing I had was clonidine and the occassional seroquel, trazadone and bentyl, and if I was really lucky an ativan and that was a pretty rough withdrawal. I was doing about 2 bundles a day throughout the day.
