Info Forum threads vs. blogs - What's the difference?

I noticed new threads and answered them like any other, and then I realized they are blogs, and not threads.

Now I'm not very internet savvy, and relatively nsoew to bluelight. Please, would someone explain to me the difference between a thread and a blog within this forum?

The Blogs section is just it's own section where people can start a post/thread about anything. It doesn't really have to be confined to any particular niche like say a post in a sub forum. There really is no great difference, it's just a different section, and the content can be about anything. Like if you wanted to make a long form post about your life and update it regularly, it would fit better in Blogs than anywhere else.
