How well does foil freebasing (Powder + soda + water on foil) work in comparison to straight up smoking the rock on foil?

Opinions from people who have firsthand experience would be appreciated. I kind of threw this question into another thread of mine but it ended up not being answered by as many people as I would have hoped.

Its quite inefficient. You'll feel the crack sure, but you aren't going to get blasted like you would from using a proper stem. Do this is if you must, but if you have a dollar or two to spend, get yourself a glass stem and a chore boy - your crack (and therefore, your wallet), will thank you. It'll make your sack last much longer, and give you a much much better rush. Foilies are crap and the last resort after a last resort IMO.
