Benzos flurazepam help

anyone heard of this benzo? i looked it up it is infact a benzo, but I've never heard of it. what's the best way to use it? its in a capsule and its 15mg (flurazepam). thanks for any info.

All I know about it is it has a ridiculously long half-life, something like 250 hours max. As for dosing, it sounds more on par with diazepam's potency, so dosages in the double digits (in mg) would be appropriate. Best ROA would be oral, sublingual, or plugging if you are into that ROA. Snorting would totally waste it.

The amount of time it takes for your body to eliminate half of the drug. In other words, how long it lasts. This is a very long acting benzo, and alprazolam is a very short acting one.

While i can't account for flurazepam's presence elsewhere, I can say it's as easy to find if not easier than any other benzos here (Japan) whereas I'd never even heard of it before while I was in the US.

now im excited about using this, anyone know of a good dosage or recommend one. this pill is 15mg and i found this bottle prescribed to a family member with only a few taken out and left alone. would anyone prefer these over regular xanax??

Benzos are a nasty habit, and all to easy to get, even with the most switched on of people.

I'm a benzo addict, and if I knew then what I knew now, I would walk away from them.

I've got another 7x30mg left of these, originally had 11 but I decided to test them out with 120mg. I have high natural benzo tolerance but no current recent benzo tolerance; it's been at least a month since my last dose. I've been drinking a little bit today as well, but while I feel relaxed both mentally and muscularly, I am underwhelmed by the effects. Equivalence tables say 15-30mg = 10mg diazepam. I find diazepam weak, but this isn't doing tons for me either. It's chilled, but not as strong as I'd thought it may be, especially considering it's a hypnotic.

I feel slightly sedated, but not outright floored like with some hypnotics such as midazolam or nitrazepam. Feels like a slightly beefed-up Diazepam which I don't rate very highly. Anyway, with the long half-life subsequent doses should still raise plasma concentrations.

I understand snorting most benzo's is a waste of time, as most of the stuff your actually snorting is just binders & fillers. But Flurazepam is one of the few benzo's that is very water soluble, I think only Midazolam is the only one that's more water soluble, even heard of people IV'ing it with heron. Snorting it will burn a little and taste bad, but I think of something worse say meth or ecstasy. I live in usa and got a prescription for it. It didn't work well for me because of having a prescription of 6 mg of clorazepam a day so I switched to 10 mg of ambien witch is not a benzo, but it is extremely close.

I'd be careful with equivalency charts. Not saying that conversion is wrong. Its correct. But a lot of charts with benzos don't make since. For instance, in regards to receptor binding and saturation .5mg of clonazepam is NOT equal to 10mg of diazepam.

But back on topic. Flurazepam is only a partial agonist of the benzodiazepine receptor site on the GABA A receptor meaning it only elicits a partial biological response whereas diazepam or temazepam fully activate it which is why you probably don't get a strong response like you do to those other hypnotic benzos. And this is also why doctors back in the day liked to prescribe dalmane more than other hypnotics (a partial agonists with a long half life would mean somewhat less abuse potential) but for some reasons it's disappeared and no one seems to know about it. I enjoy flurazepam though. But I wouldn't bother asking for it over temazepam or zolpidem.

By the way, I've also read in some book, forget where, that it's sleep-inducing effects increase in intensity the longer you take it. If someone can comment I would appreciate it.

Yeah, brand name Dalmane. It's not that often prescribed, but it is available in both US and Canada and most likely elsewhere. It's extreme length of action (220 hour half life or so). It's mostly prescribed for insomnia, real bad insomnia, but the sole person I know that is prescribed Dalmane (brand name), she has the 30mg ones, she's a mother of one of my best friends, her doctor gave her a choice, take this or die from alcohol. Pretty good alcohol replacement since it lasts so long (a lot like high doses of Librium) and a lot less destructive. It is also a partial-agonist which to me should make the so-called addiction specialists check it out as a "bupe" for benzos, if you see what I mean. A few times she's give me a small handful of 'em, I was pretty grateful, but did not harass her ever even when in the worst of my withdrawals. Very useful benzo to me, way back a decade ago when I would work 2 weeks during the day, then have a 3 day break then work 2 weeks at night....made tolerating the whole thing a bit easier, I'd take one or two 30mg caps she gave me with some melatonin. And I endured that summer job without quitting, it paid a lot too (recycling plant, but I was forklift driver).

You're mixing it with flutoprazepam or another one starting with a T.

I got a table that nurses and docs use here in Canada with all available benzos in the country and all their characteristics. It's there, and it's in the US too. Dalmane's part of the first batch of benzos that Sternbach made that was commercialized and never removed.

Europeans have a pill containing Loprazolam, it can also be snorted, the bastards.

Flurazepam really wouldn't function to benzos like buprenorphine does to opioid because buprenorphine has an incredibly high affinity with very low intrinsic activity meaning it will block a lot of other opioid yet provide some agonist itself. This is where partial agonists can sort of either be antagonist or agonists on the pharmacological scale (aripiprazole a partial D2 agonist yet it's effects prove it antagonizes dopamine and provides no therapeutic benefits of D2 agonism) Flurazepam's partial agonism and longer half life mean it just might have lower abuse potential. But it won't keep people from abusing other benzos, in fact it compliments them nicely.

Thanks for the info. I mentioned the partial agonism of Dalmane making it a possible "benzo weener" like Valium and Librium due to that property but nobody really caught on (and really it could be considered, especially considering it is as cheap as Librium, which doesn't come as a brand name anymore in most countries, only chlordiazepoxide and it is dirt cheap, even more so than valium, same for flurazepam. The long half-life would help. It's also a major muscle relaxant....I know a girl who had a sports injury and when telling her doc she had a strained muscle with painful spasms...he prescribed her Ativan 1mg 4 times a day! Not the most muscle relaxing benzo out there, and she didn't know what she got into, the kind of girl who's very active and does a lot of sports, tennis, badminton, female baseball leagues etc...she would drink 2-3 beers and that would be it. She lived one hell of a nightmare. Anyways, just pushing the fact that Tetrazepam would be very welcome in North America. Robaxin is crap and although a possible carcinogen like all carbamates, it's on the shelves, sure mixed with ibu, aspirin or tylenol, pure Robaxin is expensive as hell. Then there's cyclobenzaprine which is ok I guess, but since it's a tetracyclic, making it related to TCA antidepressants...some people take too much of it for too long and get heart issues/low blood pressure issues (I've seen it happen first hand). Orphenadrine is also on the aisles here, or even cheaper if you ask the pharmacist for some behind the counter, but I really dislike it, but that's personal. That only leaves Zanaflex (in Canada, no Soma, since the late 90's) which is an exception medication and a pain in the ass to obtain, one has to have a doctor fill out a form and be specific about how other medications were tried without success. Or else the government insurance won't pay, and even when I had a private medication insurance, there's stuff they would cover not at their normal 80% rate, I don't know why, there's no abuse potential with Zanaflex, the one time I had it, private insurance paid back only 25%.

And yes, Dalmane mixes well with other benzos, gotta be careful as always. I discovered that the new RC benzo cloniprazepam that becomes 1-methyl-clonazepam and then clonazepam seems to be a lot stronger (still the 2.5mg capsule is over-cautiousness by their inventors), 10mg taken before bed last night and I didn't need to take my 30mg temazepam, which I almost always use, although it is prn, it keeps me from having horrible nightmares that affect me even when I'm awake in the morning. (I had flub-lam 0.25 and an Ativan 2mg somebody gave to me I had laying around...I don't want to touch my Valiums which I stack up).

Dalmane is kinda forgotten, like say Tranxene, but they both have their own properties that are useful mostly therapeutically than recreationally by themselves (although, one could eat 30mgx5 and sleep 2 days, some people find sleep recreational when one lifetime problem of theirs is chronic insomnia/sleep disorders like delayed sleep onset syndrome where 4 am is when one's biological clock feels like it's time to go to bed and wake up at noon to 2 pm. The lazy label gets slapped on us, but we are great evening workers.

Flurazepam is usually not prescribed anymore due to the very long duration of effect. Causing people to feel sleepy after they wake up in the morning. Doctors prefer to prescribe Temazepam cause of that or Nitrazepam cause that has a more predictable half-life than Flurazepam yet still after effects in the morning that can be beneficial for anxiety. The elimination half-life for Flurazepam is usually around 100 Hours it can be up to 250 Hours in the elderly, kidney or liver impaired individuals.

Not to mention Flurazepam is suspected to be inhibited by CYP3A4 possibly others too.
