First time injecting dilaudid - over too quick?

Hey gang

So after a year of plugging, I finally decided to try and IV my dilaudid to see what everyone has been raving about (besides, my tolerance has gotten to the point where plugging even 40mg hardly has an effect on me).

So after a weekend of trying to get it right (had trouble making the mix and finding veins), last night I finally managed to inject what was probably around 6mg into my hand (only place I could find a vein).

Well, like everyone says, the rush is great. For 10 or 15 minutes I felt really, really nice.

But then it was basically over. Nada.

At least a good plug always gave me a nice, mellow rush and the effects lasted a few hours.

A friend suggested that because of my tolerance I should try a higher dose, and next weekend I will, but I'm curious what the experts out there have to say.

Is injecting D all about that quick rush, with the expectation that's all you get?

As nice as the rush is, unless I can get something longer-lasting out of it, in the name of harm reduction I'm not sure I'd make injecting a long term hobby...

IV'ing drugs always lasts a shorter amount of time the plugging/snorting/swallowing, it's just how the human body works.

Yep thats exactly how I felt. After all the hype about it. I just did it the first time like an hour ago too. And it was a nice rush, but I was only high for like 15 minutes. That was only with an 8 Mg pill though. Maybe if I did more I would be high for longer, but dont really want to OD because I was after a rush. So I will stick to 8 MGs for a while longer until im a little bit more experienced.

The effects of intravenous Hydromorphone provide a great intense rush at the right dose but the duration is always very short. Thats a common complaint about IV Hydromorphone.

If you were to take a higher dose its possible that the effects may last a few more minutes but shouldn't last too much longer.

Funny, it takes longer to prep and shoot than the time you actually spend high! That's just wrong. I'm surprised so many people are into it. Seems like the best thing to do would be shoot 8mg then plug another 8 to get some life out of it.

I just had an emergency appendicitis last week and was able to experience it for the first time. Amazing rush, but yes it doesn't last real long.

John, I don't know how well your idea would work. Because actually it lasts a few hours, it's just that the feeling after the rush just pales in comparison so much that you're not satisfied past that initial 15 minutes or so where you normally would have loved the feeling...

personally i think you should up your dosage. if you're plugging 40mg and not getting much effect from that, then you should be able to do more than 8mg of IV dilaudid. back when i was plugging Dilauid, i'd plug about 20mg, and i shoot 6mg. if you're not doing a comparable IV dosage to your plugging dose, then you'll get a small rush, but you're not really gonna get high for the expected length of time. IVing 12mg will give you more what you're looking for.

first time i did 4mg to test the waters, which was a decent rush, and the high was just alright. then i stepped it up to 6mg and it was like night and day difference with the rush and the high. the rush was way more intense, and i was a lot higher.

coincidentally since your tolerance is like twice mine for dilaudid, and stepping your dosage up by the same fraction/percentage that i did, you should experience similar results as i did. basically you're IVing the same amount that i did to test the waters for my shot, which is why you're not getting your desired effects.

^Even if he ups the dosage, its not going to make it last any longer.

Really OP, you're lucky if you got it to last 15 minutes (which is about how long the rush of any IV opiate will be), because for dilaudid, I have never had it last more than about 5 minutes. An hour later I'm wondering why I bothered.

I tried upping the dosage to 12mg, but I just couldn't dissolve 1.5 pills in less than 1cc of water. I tried, but it just made a sludgy paste. If someone has a trick for dissolving that much pill in 90 units of water, I'm all ears.

I managed to do a full 8mg pill tonight, though. It was nice. But after maybe 10 minutes it was all over. The pain killing aspect of the drugs was still in effect, and of course withdrawals were gone, but so was the warm & fuzzies :-(
