I am in the midst of looking for a new doctor and dentist and was wondering what the best way to do research online is for doctors that can be rated online according to ones location. Has anyone had good experience finding their doctor through online forums or communities? I have looked at a couple through a basic google search and found nothing with any solid information. I am in Rochester, and could use advice in the matter. Thanks

The only site I've ever seen online is RateMDs.com. Patients can sign in and rate their doctors. They have listings for several countries. I found my current doctor by asking a specialist to suggest a doctor that was a human being 8) as well as being a good physician, etc. I was very pleased with the result and have stayed with him for several years. My dentist I found by asking friends if they could recommend a good one.

when looking for a new doctor I ask co-workers and friends
I work for MD's and that is also a great referral resource

I too ask around. I have the BadgerCare Core plan so I use the online site to find a local specialist. I write down a handful of names and proceed to call them all to verify their coverage and if not covered, the cost. Then sometimes I google the names of the Docs. Sometimes you find things out and others you don't. So, word of mouth and online research .
