Between, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back vs Super Troopers, which is a funnier all around movie?

I'm going with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Super Troopers grows old very quickly and only has a few good skits where Jay and Silent Bob is constantly humorous to me.

It is really a matter of personal opinion. They both have their moments, and seeing as I am not big into the whole saga of Jay n Silent Bob, I'm going to go with Super Troopers.

The overuse of profanity in Jay and Silent Bob drives me insane. I mean, I swear a lot and it still bugs me. I just feel its overkill.

Both VERY funny.

My favourite scene is the opening scene in Super Troopers. So many hilarious parts to it.
"Dude you just ate like $100 buck of pot and like 30 of shrooms" "I know"
"So i'll like be needing $130 bucks whenever you can" "Dude thats not cool"

Then priceless look on the guys face when he starts to freak out "ccaandy barsss" 8o 8(

The whole sequence is one of the funniest i've ever seen on film or off.

The acid scene during the credits when the same kid is playing a shooting duck is classic too.

Overall despite of thoses scenes, I think Jay and Silent Bob had me more consitently entertained thoughout.

i don't think the two can (or should) be compared since they are different movies. I think that super troopers was the funnier of the two. I agree that there is way too much cussing in jay and silent bob although the first time they went on about the 'clit' and the whole booboo kitty fuck the first time i saw it was great stuff lol

^^ I agree...I loved Super Troopers...so I'm going with that. I wasn't very impressed by Jay and Silent Bob...even though I am a huge fan of the whole line of films. Jay was always my least favorite character however... still a good laugh, best with a nice jibber or four...

kevin smith was a lot funnier when he wasn't trying to write kevin smith..... his first three movies were great. jay and silent bob strike back was just all repressed homosexual jokes

I pop in the j & bob dvd atleast once a week. IF you watched and enjoyed the jersey trilogy & even enjoyed the audio commentary of all the films it makes J & B the ultimate insider flick. So funny on so many levels. Just the fact that they are just 2 stoner star wars fans who got to have their own movie with big hollywood stars in it and even have a bong saber battle with luke skywalker himself makes this movie that much better.

I recall going to see super troopers at my cinema while very stoned & was very disapointed. The lines just seem to forced and scripted. I see it every now & then on cinemax and while it is worth a couple laughs it is no where near the epic of J & bob strikes back.

Oh and one more thing

DON'T B HATING ON JERSEY GIRL CAUSE OF J-LO!!!!!!!!

:D

That sentence describes every single one of Smith's films. His dialogue is so painfully and un-naturally scripted and delivered that I can't help but wince any time his characters deliver a line. Sure, it's funny as shit, but the guy can't direct his way out of a paper bag.

Obviously, I'm going with Super Troopers. Take every well-known sketch comedy group's (SNL, The Kids in the Hall, SCTV) and put it head-to-head with Super Troopers and the latter will always come out on top. The consistancy of the jokes in the film... not to mention the PLOT are light years ahead of anything that Kevin Smith could have written and/or directed.

Keep an eye out for Club Dread, the new film from Broken Lizard. One of the films that I anticipate most this year.

Adios,
Steve

I'll take classic SNL over Super Troopers any day. Hell, I'll just take Bill Murray over Super Troopers any day.

There definitely seems to be a lot of anger towards Mr. Smith. I personally love his films, and Jay and Silent Bob was a fitting end to the whole Jersey saga. Inside jokes are what I love about the whole series of films, and the dialogue is hilarious.

I remember when people used to love the guy...and I guess the hip thing now is to say he's old news and therefore sucks ass. I don't know about you guys, but I still find Clerks to be absolutely hilarious, even if poorly acted. IMO, all Kevin Smith films are better than Super Troopers, and I liked Super Troopers.

If I really cared that much about plot lines, I probably wouldn't watch comedies.

I loved Clerks, and am a fan of Mr. Smith overall.

While I like Jay and Silent Bob a lot as bit players - when they are forced to carry a movie, they tend to grate.

I did, however, love the Good Will Hunting parody - if Ben Affleck has ever acted well for two minutes, this was it.

Overall, I give Jay and Silent Bob two and a half stars, a half a star more than I give sophomoric Super Troopers.

They're both very entertaining...but I own Super Troopers. Brian Cox (Chief O'Grady) plays the best drunk at the end "look what I found...a 2X4!!". Next time you watch it just watch the expression on his face change as he gets progressively more fucked up.

On the other hand any movie with Mark Hamil, and a monkey in it is cool in my book.
