I don't think this movie is that well-known but it is awesome. It's directed by Roman Polanski, who also cast himself as the lead and turns in an excellent performance. I heard it described somewhere as a really fucked up version of The Muppets and that is about right. It's basically about a guy's descent into madness while living in a squalid apartment in Paris. He has the weirdest neighbors and weird friends and a weird apartment and the whole thing is just fantastically bizarre. It also features one of the greatest endings in the history of cinema. If you like weird shit, you have to see this movie.

I'll go into a more insightful analysis if anyone has actually seen it.

brilliant film needs some more props

I was first introduced to this movie in my high school film class and I absolutely love it. I watched it again last night after I had forgotten about it for nearly 5 years and it was just as good as I remembered it.
