i use to watch this movie when i was a kid but i can't, for the life of me, remember the damn title. (cartoon movie)

it had water people and fire people. two of each fell in love and couldn't be together so they were going to get on these huge puffy flowers that detach and float into the sky to some unkown utopia. the water guy was red and the fire girl was blue....

this is killing me and has been for the past 8 years...does anyone know what the hell i'm talking about?

i didn't know at the time tho...seeing as how i still took flinstone vitamins, but yes yes i would love to eat some of those vitamins now with a drop of cid on them and watch it
 
Are you sure it was a real movie? Sometimes when I tripped I would watch movies on my tv that never really exsisted. Sounds like a movie I'd watch though
 
any idea what year it was? "when i was kid" varies for alot of people on this board...

Plot Summary

Although this is a foreign cartoon and is from 1981, the plot looks like what you're searching for.
 
You should also check this link out http://www.pelleas.net/int/int3-page3.shtml I'm not sure if this article is new or not. From the article the Sanrio team is in the process of animating The Sea Prince and The Fire Child. But one of their main animators/writers is already created for the movie made in 1981. I guess they could be re-making the film or this article is from before 1981 and it was transcribed to the internet. either way it sounds very interesting and from this article Sanrio is the only animation team in Japan that does full-animation.

WE used to have this on betamax when i was around seven years old, i watched it every damn day i was sooo obsessed =D
Its an animation by TOEI....a japanese production house? i think...they also made another cartoon i loved, the original Little Mermaid (which i cant find anywhere anymore)
Shiiit...im so psyched , memories of one of my FAVORITEST childhood movies ever :)

Seriously to this VERY DAY I still remember the haunting music playing till the very end..as if i had just seen it yesterday lol..

I didnt even know it was available on youtube now! I checked many years ago and it never was sooo.....Anyway I have the movie on my hard drive and it took a couple of days but it was worth the wait ;)

Also, I cried at the SAME parts still ....
NSFW:

- When Bibble died and took off his small horn
- When Piale died and became the flame..
- The ending of course...and Malta walks to the ocean while carrying Sirius..


The melodramatic forbidden love dialogue seemed kind of cheesier now that I'm older, but it doesnt detract from the beauty and message of the whole cartoon...dont you think the graphics and hand made illustrations in the end were just so fucking AMAZING ? And to think it was made in 1981. The music too, was just so beautiful...Im pretty sure Finding Nemo copied some stuff from the underwater scenes... ;)

now he just looks so dinky
i was amazed to see malta's nipples too and wondered how i had forgotten that

i cried at those parts too
i always thought piale and bibble should've worked something out
but they DIED instead :(
