film: Shrek 2 (spoiler!)

****THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE (OR DON'T MIND HEARING ABOUT SOME OF THE BEST PARTS)****

I just saw this movie last night. I thought it was great. I was laughing my ass off throughout the whole film. There are also so many random references to things thrown in, too.

Yeah, you could say it's ending was cheesy, but it IS a fairy tale type of movie anyway. :) I thought it was cute.

Speaking of cute, when the cat did his little cute face with the big eyes, I just about melted. SO cute.

Anyone else seen this movie? What do you think of it? I think this one was a lot more funny than the last one. Definitely worth seeing in the theaters, IMO.

:)

I loved it! I saw it Wednesday night. I don't know if I would say it was more funny than the first... they payed a TON of attention to details in this one which was good and Puss's kitten face was sooooooooooooooo cute! There was a unison 'awwwwwww' in the theater from all the girls and quite a few of the guys when he did it the first time! And can I just sat that Shrek was a hottie... even if he was an animated character lol

Ok... I'll stop now! ;)

I saw this on Sunday nite, and I thought it was better than the first one also. Puss 'n Boots is my new favorite character! Dreamworks definitely stepped up with the animation and the backgrounds were beautiful (when they were traveling to Far Far Away)

hey mella!

I think my favorite part was when pus started fighting the cops and they busted him for having a baggie of cat nip.

"Oh that's not mine"

The social commentary on LA was pretty good too, makes me love living here again. And perhaps it was just me, but this movie seemed a lot more "grown up" than the previous...I mean it dealt with a lot of complex relationship issues that I am now only beginning to understand.

i didnt know if they'd be able to top the first one, but they did :)

the scene with pinnochio (sp?) and the thong...i had tears running down my face. SO damn funny. ohh, and did you hang around to see the extra scene with donkey and the dragon...that was classic.

OHH...you should edit the title to add the word "spoilers", some of the best jokes in the movie are mentioned.

I loved the first one but I haven't seen this one yet. Looks like i'm going to have to go see it this weekend though. After hearing everyone talk about how good it is, I can't wait.

just saw this earlier....sooooo fuckin funny! i rank it up there with Finding Nemo for the consistent laugh factor :) Very very good cartoon! I fuckin love that puss n boots!@ i so wantd to bring him home !!!!!=D =D =D =D

like the original shrek, i was really kinda disappointed with this. i'm constantly being over-critical of films, but i guess it just tends to shit me when people rant and rave about how brilliant everything is, when it's only just *good*. as with the first film, this doesn't come close to the pixar animated films (the two toy story films, monsters inc.), but it's still pretty passable.

mike myers is back with his weirdly stunted accent as shrek but, like last time, he's overshadowed by his supporting cast. eddie murphy also returns as donkey, and even though he has some pretty hilarious one-liners, there's very little progression from the first film, and it can't help but feel just a *little* stale. puss in boots, however (voiced by antonio banderas, as camply as possible), is pretty damn hilarious. i was sad that he wasn't quite as brilliant as everything i'd read beforehand had led me to believe, but the character has its moments of genius.

my main complaint is just that the film feels like a vaguely interesting plot tossed together with some really amazing ideas. portions of the film are fantastic (the "funky town" entrance to the town of "far far away" is cute), but it doesn't feel anywhere near as tight nor polished as a pixar film (though the animation does certainly stand up - there's no complaints there).

it's good, but it isn't film of the year :)

^^^Agreements. Fair enuff, I saw this while buzzing on enough pills and speed to kill a bull elephant, so maybe that skewed my opinion somewhat...but I thought it was just good, not fantastic. Mind you, I thought the same about the first one, and people the world over creamed themselves over that movie, so mebbe I'm just too much of a movie snob...I dunno...

I enjoyed the first much more than the second, but I think that's mainly due to the moods I was in in each screening. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but it was nothing exceptional, except the animation.

I enjoyed the trailer to the next Pixar flick more than Shrek 2. Forgot it's name. The one with the superheroes. That looks GREAT! Now I'm looking forward to it almost as much as I'm looking forward to Trey Parker & Matt Stone's superhero marionette movie.

I really enjoyed Shrek 2 - however, I'm not a serious film critic. Puss was great, and I thought the animation was excellent.

Yes, it was cheesy at parts (I didn't go for the Godzilla Gingerbread Man), but still - it's a silly movie anyway....

the incredibles, which is apparently scripted by a whole bunch of ex-writers from the simpsons, so it should be awesome.

LOL my mum bought a DVD copy of shrek 2 whilst she was in Brunei for me, and it had no sound or color!! :( But i really wanna see it now!!

Well I saw this this evening while I was meant to be doing uni work... :\

But I must say that it was great. Copmletely entertaining, which was the entire point :) It didn't really flow all that well in terms of plot, but it worked overall. And just to be original I'm gonna say that I loved puss in boots... oh wait ;) There were many moments where I couldn't stop laughing. I think that I'll see it again sometime soon :)

I was skeptical of its quality when I first saw it, but about third of the way through the film I became a believer. It was hilarious, and at least as good as the first film--I loved the "Cops" parody. ;)

I also have to agree with some of the critics...Puss in Boots almost steals the show.

I loved Donkey so much i didnt think that anything could steal the show from him, but i was wrong. I love Puss in Boots !

I liked this movie better then the first which i have heard hundreds of times in my house by now but was *almost* bored by it when i seen it the first time. This one really held my interest more.
We took our seven year old and five year old sons to see it a few weeks ago . The seven year old loved it- laughed through the whole thing but the five year old was restless and ending up napping on his daddy's lap. The husband enjoyed the movie too. As long as it is an above preschool audience, you should at least enjoy this movie if not love it.

best part of the movie, is the people in the starbucks running screaming out of the starbucks in fear of the giant gingerbread man, and across the street and into another starbucks :D

I loved it, went and seen it with my son and laughed my arse off from start to finish.

Puss in Boots stole the show. Also the mission impossible scene with pinocio was a crack up!
