Saw this yesterday, and thought it was pretty good--much better than I expected, in fact; I liked it better than "School of Rock", though I know that's heresy to some people. It's harmless family fun, and judging by the thick crowd at a Sunday matinee showing, I think it will do very well.

Thoughts?

the same guy who wrote napoleon dynamite right? damn thats gonna be hard to follow.

i have never thought jack black should have strayed from being a costar, he is just too much to be in a starring role.

he is a fabulous accent, absolutely wonderful, one of the best parts of movies he costars in....but it should stay there imo

I'll wait for this to show up on cable. :) I do like jackblack tho....but he grew on me. Hated him in High Fidelity......started loving him when I saw School of Rock.

^he is only tolerable to me in high fidelity and king kong.

and napoleon dynamite was horrible. i have no delusions of this being worth seeing. therefore i will not.

Interesting how the majority is either 2 or 4 stars with very little going 1,3 or 5

Two other movies that had similar reviews amongst friends etc where Zoolander and Napolean Dynamite

You either thought they where ho hum and didnt care much to watch again but glad you actually did

OR

You fuckin loved it, would watch again and again but new it was no masterpeice

^^^^That's probably a good description actually; I had heard LOTS of bad stuff about Nacho Libre before I saw it, so didn't have any expectations....and I loved it. The scene where the fat chick goes through the secret passage, me and my housemate must have played that again like 14 times.

It's dumb, but I think that's the charm of it. Dumb and weird.

^^^^That's really funny, cause I hated Napoleon Dynamite (it's one of the few movies I haven't been able to sit all the way through), and if I had of known they were by the same director I probably wouldn't have even watched Nacho Libre at all. Interesting that they have two such different extreme reactions, eh.. :)

this one was okay, but nothing special. but napolean dynamite was one of the most irritating movies i've ever seen.
