Film: Marathon Man.
Anyone seen this. My dad raved about it and I finally saw and got to say that it's pretty good.
It stars Dustin Hoffman and a mix of some really intriguing elements: Nazi war criminals in S. America, diamond smuggling, covert goverment agencies, McCarthyism.
*Spoilers*
As I understand it the film's most famous scene is when Hoffman is being tortured by the Nazi dentist and it's a pretty wicked scene especially for the 70's. I have to say that I think I'd rather be mutilated ala Resivoir Dogs or butt raped in the Gimp's dungeon before I was strapped into that chair. I'm sure that scene has done a lot to paint dentists as sadists.
I also read online that during the scene when Hoffman is getting drowned in the tub that asked the actors to actually try and drown him and he ended up needing O2 and medical assistance, now that's method acting.
So a few questions: Has anyone seen Marathon Man? What did you think? and "is it safe?"
