d: robert redford
s: tom cruise, meryl streep, robert redford, michael pena, peter berg, andrew garfield
this well produced drama does come across as a little preachy, but it easily carries it's relatively short runtime with some interesting points. things aren't as they seem at the start, and the trailer, whilst does do it's job in teasing the potential audience with snippets, is also, imo, pretty misleading. even the title isn't what it seemed to be to me before i saw it. and for this i'm actually quite grateful. it's nice and somewhat refreshing to be surprised.
ultimately, without spoiling anything, i can say that this is like traffic or syriana, but for the subject of politics, media and military. albeit with far fewer main characters.
there was a particular line by redford which gave me chills and hit me in the chest with a massive crunch.
i'd give it 3.5/5
