Can't say I know anything about it, and have never heard of any of the people involved, I am left equally ignorant after reading up profiles on IMDB. This isn't a bad thing, it seems most of the actors are pretty small time, doing TV dramas etc., so it could be a fresh new thang in Hollywood.

Four guys from the Midwest drive across the country to honor the wish of their dying friend: to watch "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch before the movie's worldwide release.

Based on that summary I think it does have some potential, as long as it's not another cliched 'teen comedy'.
 
i don't know about it just being a teen comedy....it is a total obvious knock (and at the same time a dedication) to the fans of this movie, though any "fanboy" be it star wars or halo would appreciate its humor.

i have to admit, my husbands geek factor was making me shun this preview, but i was hooked immediately. i wanted to hate it, and i was laughing my ass off within seconds..we will see if the movie lives up to its previews.
 
I am a fanboy and I think this will be well done. if not for anything else but Star Wars VS Star Trek:

"Captain Picard is gay!"

"he is not gay, he's British."

"he wore a singlet!"

"well, Han Solo's a dirt-bag!"
 
Wtf ever happened to this movie? I saw the trailer almost two years ago,but it never came out. I checked IMDB and it showed the release year as 2008,but still no date. You would think they would capitalize on the fact that Seth Rogen is in it and release the damn thing already. Major delays usually mean trouble. In other words:Crap!
 
Wow. Almost two years since the preview and they still haven't released this movie. You would think it would have at least gone straight to DVD. Any word on when, if ever this movie will be released?

hey everyone, while we're all sitting on our hands waiting, let's sing koombaya... and before then, i'd recommend you find a copy of bring back star wars. funny stuff and some refreshingly frank interviews with many of the original cast, caught out in their every day lives.
 
It's (supposedly) coming out February 9th, 2009. We'll see though. This movie is becoming the Chinese Democracy of film. Without the hype.
 
Finally saw it last night; local Blockbuster already had it.

It was all right. The Star Wars and Lucasfilm in-jokes were great, but much of the comedy felt forced, and the characters were too interchangeable to care much about. It's worth watching if you're a "fanboy", but I don't see this entering the pantheon of great parodies.

A regrettable three out of five.

i can't say i know much about this film, but a dude i work with told me about it a week or so ago. the writer is from my town! just thought that was kinda cool since it's a pretty small rural town in the middle of BFE. :)
 
we saw it when it came to out theaters a month or so ago, i loved it. mind you, it is a purely puerile display of some fun pop culture refs that only a few will really embrace.
